I have roughly the same laminator that Saturn mentioned and it’s was a great deal but sometimes I wish we had gone a different route. We ship a lot from China so we threw it in with a container we already had on the way and ended up around $1400 all in for a 63” with heated roll. It works well for general use but it’s definitely a step down from higher end brands like gfp, some of the royal sovereign etc. main complaint is the speed control which is super touchy and lurchy. If you’re trying to dial in a super slow speed good luck. The tension knobs are also pretty bad compared to better laminators. At first I was going to rebuild it with, relube the clutches in the tension knobs, change out the speed control potentiometer but never got around to it. Long story short if I did it again I think I’d buy something nicer. The savings in blown lamination alone would probably pay for the upgrade in a few years.

I replaced an antique GBC Orca with a Kala and it has been pretty much flawless. Had a control board go out and it was inexpensive (ish) and easy (ish) to replace.

I know this is a bit late, but for anyone else that stumbles on this thread, be wary of Kala laminators. We purchased a dual-feed Arkane 1650 last year, and to this day, we've probably completed less than 20 rolls on it. Today, the idler/tension bar fell out during operation. We've had multiple calls to get this thing fixed, and even had someone from Kala come to work on it. We got it to replace an old easymount laminator that's probably 10+ years old. Good thing we didn't get rid of it because it has been our primary machine while the Kala has struggled to do the one job it was made to do.

I'd really like to talk with you about this. I've sold hundreds of them and they are very, very successful. Let me see if I can help you out!

I have an old RSG1401 55in Royal Sovereign Laminator that just stop running. I have used it for 10 years with little problems other than the tracking issue. It just stop running this week. I found new parts on Ebay(Control board and a 36v dc motor). I have replaced and still not running. I don't think anything left to replace is the transformer. Anybody got any ideas for me to get this machine back up and running? It may be time to buy new. I don't want to spend over $3000. Any thought?
