Why does my Gaussin Blur not work sometimes?

I can't figure out why all of the sudden my Gaussian Blur stops working. I was Gaussian blurrin' all day yesterday and now it tells me there is an "error occurred while processing appearance of an object"

Oh what have I done to upset you mighty Gaussian Blur? Please help me understand.

May be something in Preferences that got jimmied-up.

Shut PS off then hold down Command,Option,Shift while starting PS.
Done correctly you'll see a pop-up asking if you want to delete the preferences. Click Okey-Dokey and be on your way.
