Window Perf

I've avoided using window perf for years because it didn't seem to hold up well; the replacement or repair rate was too high. It seems they've gotten better now so we may try it again. This leads to a few questions>

What perf is recommended for store front windows, 60/40 or 50/50? What about vehicles, same or different?

Has anyone tried Contra Vision AutoGraph? It's an air release product which could speed installation and reduce reprints.

Do you need to use a special laminate for this?

Thanks in advance.

I'll let others respond to the best brands but buy some edge tape and use that on all edges - it really helps with longevity!

For retail windows most people go with 70/30 or even 80/20 for better image quality. The 50/50 is really just for cars and a lot more difficult to handle seeing that half of the film is gone. I don't think getting an air-egress liner is really going to help that much. It is fairly easy to install. In fact, I'd be worried about getting enough adhesive on the glass if you did use an air-egress liner.

Also 70/30 or 80/20 have more vinyl surface and more adhesive in contact with the glass than 50/50.

On vehicles you use 50/50. If it's the rear window you laminate with optically clear laminate. I have never found a need for air release on a vehicle window. If you're getting air bubbles improve your technique. If you don't laminate on a vehicle you can't see out when it rains.

We use 50/50 on store windows too and it works fine. You can use the higher ratio perf if you want to stock more vinyls or all you do is store windows. If you laminate it on a store window it will last longer because of the UV protection. But it lasts OK without, and most of the time the imprint is a short duration message.

HOLOGRAPHIC 60/40 if they want to be EXTRA lol. This one is for short term promotional type applications for 6 months to a year.
