Windows 11 Compatibility

If it works with the latest Windows 10, then it shouldn't have an issue on win11.
If it has issues on the latest win10, then expect issues on win11

Windows also has compatibility mode for legacy software.

If you use output-devices with serial or parallel interfaces (Gerber Edge, Gerber Plotters), you can run into trouble even on Windows 10. Gerber has adaptors which are working ob windows 10, but no warranty until now that they work on 11.

on one of my computers when I upgraded to 10 it reinstalled the windows drivers , not sure why but I just had to delete the windows driver(s) and reinstall the Gerber drivers (serial or parallel interfaces using the conversion cables (Gerber Edge, Gerber Plotters) not really a biggie just a PITA

thread resurrection
My shop upgraded our Edge workstation from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and the workstation is no longer communicating with the Gerber Edge LE printer. It was fine before the upgrade. I have the same hardware and cables as before the upgrade. I also have the driver roll-back whitepage pdf so we must have had a similar issue from 8 to 10. We followed the driver roll-back instructions, but it's still not communicating with the printer.

Omega Composer and GSP PLT all work great. The serial connection to the enVision plotter is fine and works properly.

Has anyone else had an issue with Windows 11 and the Edge printers?

Hey Scott, did you ever figure things out?
I haven't used my Gereber Edge for about 6 months. I'm running Omega 6.5
When I went to run a job, it's saying "bad driver". I tried re-installing the USB to Parallel drivers, but it makes no difference. Any help would be appreciated.

Parallel port still can work. It is not about Windows 10 or 11. Most of Modern computers do not have ECP printer port on PCI or isa Bus. PCI express, or automatic fast Printer ports are not supported for EDGE 2. Windows 11 does not run on my computer with ECP parallel port, But windows 10 64bit can, and managed to run Omega 2.61 on it.
Omega 5 and 6.5 run on windows 11 and use Gerber Edge 2 with Gerber USB Cable, or FX with network connection.

It might the driver in Omega. Selecting EDGE driver for Edge2 or other ways around.
What printer do you have?

Never needed. and do not really like to force uncertified drivers. Old Cutters with parallel and serial. do not need driver. New ones I can manage so far.

I am happy with Windows 10. that computer has no DNS or Gateway set. It does not go to the internet, but can use local network resources. Files I or clients save to my OwnCloud will be there as well.
Clients are following upgrades slowly. Still have 2 use CASmate on Win10 32bit computers.
