  1. Westcomp DuraCut (Summa) with OPOS out there?

I know it's going old school, but then, a SummaSign Pro of a different color should be alive and well longer than a decade. So if anyone has or knows of one, it would be a appreciated if you could let me know at jim@koios.us. Thanks! Jim

  3. cutting reflective?????

Some reflectives, maybe. But that sounds like a bit of over-stating, which isn't needed with Summa's cutter marketing (scold them!!! :), since they're the BEST, accuracy wise. And every sensor type system is problematic with reflectives, save that of the CCD camera sensors, like iCut...
  4. cutting reflective?????

Yes. See what your settings are for the size of your marks (default is 3mm square, I seem to recall) and print a bunch of them, spaced about 3 inches apart, on white vinyl. Then manually cut out the pieces, leaving some room for the sensor to scan around as it does. If it picks up anything...
  5. cutting reflective?????

Precisely. The reflective disperses the light in all directions, defeating the sensor. Another way is to cut squares of white vinyl, with a cutout the size of the OPOS mark (typically 3mm square) in the middle, and lay that over the top, leaving the mark exposed through the cutout. What...
  6. cutting reflective?????

Print OPOS marks at the center of 3-inch square pieces of white vinyl, and place that over the printed marks on your reflective.
  7. Need a material/process suggestion

Dome it, and charge through the roof. :)
  8. Vinyl cutter plots wavy lines

Worn or clogged blade-holder could be the culprit, causing waves due to hampered blade rotation. Check to see if bits of adhesive or vinyl are mucking things up, and if so, clean and lubricate the blade-holder and you should be golden.
  9. Too many sign shops!!

Yeah; that. If you have a laptop and a design program you bought or pirated (Corel/Adobe) and lost your job or cannot find one, a single Unemployment Check can get you into the "business" for about $3 to $5 hundred bux. An espresso machine, even at the low end, is north of $2 grand, and a...
  10. Help getting into digital printing.

Another option, especially since you seem to be focusing mostly on indoor, would be liquid lamination, to start out. Then when your business supports it, spend heavy on the laminator, since the better ones are pure heaven, while cheaper ones can be a real pain to work with. Also, the...
