the selection tool is the normal looking cursor with the + (usually upper right of hte tools pallet) what you need is the magic wnd tool and it looks like a wand with a starburst (glowing tip) on the end. You will need to have the magic wand and play with the settings - 1 to 255, those numbers...

you assign a hairline outline, no fills, and then print it - you have to have printer drivers which most cutters have - I use a roland cutter - it is listed as an available printer - select it - set up your media size and it cuts

copy it in word - open notepad and paste it there - this will strip all the crap word might add to it. Copy the contents of the notepad file and then start a text box with the font you want - paste into that box or text string.

I cut from X3 direct to a CX24 - you have to install the cutter as a printer - drivers were on rolands site - then give your paths a hairline and hit print - you have to set up your media sizes in the advanced options of the printer dialog so you can set up whatever size you want.

happens to me when I import between programs - somehow 2 outlines get created or imported - can you break it apart - then click once and delete? I bet there is another exact path there.

use nonprinting white - at least that works in AI - so gradient white to blaack and you should have what you are looking for

if you have the pantone color you want - there are many free conversion from pantone to hex charts that you can use to get close to your color - then select the color you wish to change - click on the color swatch in the tool bar and replace the color it is with the new hex (or RGB or CMYK)...
