  1. Media width not read correctly

Thanks, I will check it out. I did finally narrow it down to a section on the reflective strip by putting different widths of media and seeing the width measured correctly until it was over 50". The strip looked totally clean, but I wiped it down with the cleaning solution, instead of just...
  2. Media width not read correctly

I have an SJ-740, and it's reading the media width as 58.3 inches for 54" media. This had been intermittent for a while, now it seems to be consistent. I've removed and cleaned the encoder strip - it was slightly dirty, but no major scratches on it were visible and it looks fine after...
  3. Roland Camm-1 cutting accuracy

Thanks, you're correct - I should have had my reading glasses on for that calculation. :-) In this case, the customer has a thin black border around the image, so even if the stroke is wide enough for plenty of bleed so there's no white, the inside border can look pretty uneven. I've suggested...
  4. Roland Camm-1 cutting accuracy

I have a Camm-1 GX-500 cutter and a Soljet III printer. I'm noticing a slight error when doing cut jobs that is really apparent when cutting decals with a black border. The designer is using a 0.03" offset, and that isn't enough. I see the accuracy of the GX-500 is 0.2%, so if they media is 46...
  5. Versaworks / PRT files

I have a prt file from a job where the customer only wants one panel reprinted. It looks like there's no way to do that, it's either print the whole thing, or nothing. is that correct?
  6. Sheet cut / media guide error

    No, just MCVP
  7. Sheet cut / media guide error

I'm getting an error where the Roland thinks the media guides are installed and so it won't sheet cut, asks for them to be removed. They're not in there, of course. I've cleaned the reflective strip and wiped the sensor. Is there a sensitivity adjust in service mode that should be tweaked?
  8. Clearcoat plastic trim and fiberglas

Yes, absolutely! I'm going to put some wording in there to cover that. My thought was at least the trim won't look like crap if the vinyl is removed, since primer 94 can really make it look bad and it's really tough to remove.
  9. Clearcoat plastic trim and fiberglas

A customer wants a wrap that covers the plastic trim on their bus, which I won't warranty, as the trim is a little chalky with age, and I've explained it will not adhere well. They are willing to have a body shop prep it with sanding / clearcoating if it will help. Has anyone tried this instead...
  10. Versaworks stopped recognizing cutlines

Yep, rebooted, ran as admin, then saw a blank queue. As I had a panel to redo, I was a bit upset. So I closed VW and reopened normally and there's the queue again. Whatever. I'm sure that isn't a bug, its a feature somehow :-)
  11. Versaworks stopped recognizing cutlines

Interesting! Yes, several spot colors, but no gradients ( thankfully, with all the greys in the design!!)
  12. Versaworks stopped recognizing cutlines

lol, snakey, not every roland printer is print and cut. Just fyi :-)
  13. Versaworks stopped recognizing cutlines

Thanks, this got me on the path to fixing it. I rebooted, try as admin, saw a blank queue. So I restarted normally, queue is back, and now everything is fine, recognized rip jobs. Still ticked at the flakiness of their software, but not much you can do I guess. Maybe reboot should be in the...
  14. Versaworks stopped recognizing cutlines

I never thought of that! It never ceases to amaze me how Roland software provides so little debugging help - like it wouldn't be obvious to alert the user when that happens?? I guess when they can't even have the manuals proofread for obvious English and grammar errors, the bar isn't being set...
  15. Versaworks stopped recognizing cutlines

Versaworks was getting extremely slow, so I reinitialized it. Everything seemed ok, I could print just fine. Now when I try to rip a job with cutlines, versaworks doesn't recognize that it's a file with cutlines ( the "a" never appears in the gear icon). I thought there must be something wrong...
  16. It's not banding... but what is it?

It's standard quality. High Quality will just give smaller bands. I'll try cranking the heat +/- 5 and see what happens, maybe I wasn't going far enough...
  17. It's not banding... but what is it?

Nope = I checked - perfect. No dropouts at all. Even I was surprised!
  18. It's not banding... but what is it?

OK :-) Maybe that's not the right way to have titled the post. This isn't a calibration banding issue, I know it's calibrated, and it's not the fine lines you'd expect from that being off. And it's almost invisible straight on, only when I look from the side. If I go to uni, it's still...
  19. It's not banding... but what is it?

I see this with my Roland on IJ180 & glossy medias. It's not really banding that can be fixed by calibration, it is something that is mostly visible with reflected light - if you're looking straight down at the media, you don't see it, only when you're viewing at an angle and light is reflected...
  20. Does this sound like a bearing issue?

It does appear to make a difference! Thanks.
