im thinking its not ur printhead... as you say it fixed with new printhead... nope...im sure it 'fixed' because new printhead had ink in it... pushing air into head can burst the filter inside it i think you have an ink supply issue to the head... like as if the lines are clogged or an 'o' ring...

if i understand your question its that the carriage travelling on rails hits a certain spot/bump causing it to toggle up and down...then i would guess at a bit of hard ink..belt rubber...vinyl...hard grease...etc is lying in the rail ?....like a road bump ...or there is a kink/cut in encoder?
