  1. Sign Cabinet LED Retrofit

US LED makes a nice, double-sided LED module that's easy to install....it's called the TandemII. Your supply house should be able to get them for you. It's a matter of putting in a couple of brackets, mounting the LEDs, changing the power supply and wiring. FYI, most drivers/power supplies...
  2. how to install very tall lighted sign on posts HELP

Sub it out to a qualified installation company. As others have said, there's a lot of liability involved with hanging signs and it sounds like you've never done this before. There's more to it than just common sense......
  3. Hardhat Decals

Got some requests for Hardhat decals, what digital print vinyl do you guys use? Are the plastic hardhats low energy plastics to where I should use something like Convex (which I have plenty of) or do I just run them on 180cv-3 or the cheaper Arlon 4560? They're not large decals and probably...
  4. 54 or 63

Summa's a nice cutter. I'll be upgrading my cutter in the near future (I only have a 30" Graphtec). I plan to go to a 54" cutter. I've never bought 63" material and the majority of my print material is 54" or 30". My thought on a 54" is I'll have all three machines compatible - printer...
  5. Primed MDO - Edge to Edge Graphics

Thanks for the replies Gino and Mike. I figured I'd have to paint these up. I've got the costs covered so I'm not worried about that.....I just don't like to paint
  6. Primed MDO - Edge to Edge Graphics

I ordered up ACM because I couldn't get the MDO with the enamel finish in the thickness I needed. I told my client this and they weren't too pleased that the material was changing (cause they have to approve everything with their client). So, rather than rock the boat I ordered the primed MDO...
  7. Primed MDO - Edge to Edge Graphics

All, I have a project to do that has (20) 4' x 8' MDO panels that get a full, edge to edge digital print. I ordered primed MDO from my supplier (I couldn't get the enamel finish in the thickness I need) and would like to get your opinion on whether the boards will need to be painted? I plan to...

  9. HELP: Edge curl on wall wrap

I was going to suggest doing a 1/4" cut back and then edge taping but you might leave a score mark in the cut back.....is there a way to edge tape as is?
  10. newbie question

Seal is the ticket but comes at a price. Royal Sovereign has a 54" cold laminator that's fairly reasonable. I'd say the laminator would be a good purchase. If you're doing a good deal of print work then you'll more than likely be laminating the majority of it, especially if you're doing...
  11. Traffic Sign Supplier?

Hall Signs has traffic signs.....Grimco carries a grip of them
  12. Who loves it when family asks for help with something!!??

JM - I haven't wrapped any race cars (perhaps others that have will comment on the materials they used) but I would think 3M IJ180Cv-3, IJ380Cv-3 or IJ480Cv-3 would be a well suited vinyl combined with 3M 8518 Gloss Laminate.....both cast materials. Have fun with the project.
  13. Channel Letter Supplier?...

+1 Letterfab Could also try Direct Sign Wholesale....
  14. My Logo

I'm by no means a designer so that's why I hire graphic designers to do my layouts (I'm a one-man show). I do have 2-cents though and would say if your only business is fire trucks then go with a "fire equipment" theme. However, if you are a rounded out sign company doing many different sign...
  15. Laminators in the shop area

I have a warehouse space with a roll-up door that has some gaps. I keep my laminator to the back of the space, farthest from the door and use a static lint sheet to wipe down the prints as I'm lam'n. I don't really have a problem with dust build-up. When it's not in use I do cover it. I also...
  16. Anyone dealt with this

Strike it out and make the contract work for you as well. Dualite is a large national manufacturer that sometimes will try to control the little guy. If you have not worked with some of the larger national manufacturers before, I would also make sure there is a good understanding to the...
  17. Moving VP-540 up a steep stairwell- hints?

I would measure everything a couple of times to make sure it's going to go into the space.....it would suck to get to the top to be jammed. If it's super tight and going to be a royal pain move I would do the "Chicago" move. If you have a window into the space that you could bring the printer...
  18. Sign removal price ?

LOT's of questions come to mind with the somewhat described removal....1) Is a crane needed or can two guys man-handle it? 2) What's the building surface? What kind of wall repairs are going to be needed? 3) Have you asked the client what he has budgeted for this? I would probably want...
  19. A note on the Fridge

A husband and wife were in the bedroom.....the wife was standing naked in front of the mirror and says to her husband, "I'm fat and ugly! I really need you to give me a compliment right now." The husband looks over and says, "Well, your eyesight is damn near perfect." THAT's when the fight...
  20. Convex 6mil Matte - Colorado?

Thanks Mr. Salumi.....I was hoping someone in CO might be using the product. I'm just going to order a new roll as there will be more sled wraps to do....this project will just get pushed back a few days.
