Hi all....first, a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
There is something I keep wondering about in regards to good content on my sign co's Facebook page. I have often come across articles that are really great - wether entertaining or educational - that I think would be a great "share"...
I am sure someone is on this already, but I just saw this posted in Facebook and of course my first thought was about this iconic sign! Whomever is out there that has the right connections needs to get a piece of this for the history books.
Here is the link to the article. The business is...
When I started in the sign biz I worked from my home...inside my home. I discovered that wasn't the way to go for me at the beginning. Then, 5 years later I had the opportunity to open a shop. It was a relatively small shop, but had frontage on a main street (in a small town). Roughly 2...
I moved my Roland the exact same way...lift gate...secured to inside of box truck...cartridges out...head was locked...moved about 20 miles away...no problem at all.
Good luck!
Happy Monday. Am rethinking using 3MIJ35C after reading some posts here...but since I have a brand new roll I am requesting your help.
I downloaded the 3m IJ180 profile as stated on 3M's website. I am printing an RGB Illustrator file and it looks like garbage. Very "speckled" and not even...
:software
I have to agree. I don't see much use for it either and I feel like it would effectively "reflect" and essentially "white out" therefore losing the message.
I do have the capability but I didn't think that colored reflective was printable. Also wanted a nice solid black punch to it, I feel like when I've printed on reflective before it isn't quite as solid as I'd like it. Perhaps it was the profile used, not sure.
Funny bunch you all are. (FYI - no longer a banner)
Jill...yes...I'm thinking along same lines as you. Its one of those things that customer is sort
of trying to insist on....I believe that the black reg stuff will work fine...but if it doesn't read well
I'm going to hear about it....and...
Wow. this used to be a friendly place. You old miserable bastards ought to do something fun sometime. The rest of us will all just sit back and try to milk you for answers to oh-so-important big life issues like making signs while we pretend to do our jobs.
If this is the general tone on...
sure...great in theory....but I don't keep it in stock as I don't use it too often. Typically only buy what I need - pricey to have laying around.
But sure...thanks.
Hi all....didn't really get an answer so thought I would re-phrase the question.
I am making a sign 24"h x 10'w. Background will be reflective (yellow). If I make the letters(black) and also reflective...will it read clearly? OR....do you think that if it were just black regular 2 mil vinyl...
I can appreciate what you are all saying, and I never said I haven't worked with reflective before. And I will do my due diligence. At the end of the day however.....he WANTS reflective. Wether I use x or y surface....I really am kindly asking for any expertise on reflectivity.
All other...
It is being used....and yes...I agree, tacky....on the side of a limousine that is parked just off a major roadway. It will only be viewed off to the side as people are driving past it on their right side. I suppose it will be rolled up from time to time (as car is in use).
It is the...
Hi all...much to my dismay I have to make a banner that the customer wants to be reflective. I haven't used reflective much in the past few years and not for this big of a scale. Here are the specifics:
2'x10' banner. The entire background color will be reflective yellow. A second banner...
Here you go....yes...could be that I am supposed to be working on an engine...lol
But seriously....a couple of you made great suggestions...in the end, I think McMaster Carr is what I will go with....similar use product, not the beefiest clamp, but the weight load is fine to use something...
