  1. What size plotter?

30+ Get as much as you can! You can always run 15 or 24" on a larger machine, but you can't run larger stuff on a smaller machine. We also cut about 80% of our vinyl at 30" (we just tossed about 65 30" cardboard cores). We do run our patterns on either 36" or 48" paper, therefore rarely having...
  2. Anyone Using Seal EP42 Laminator?

Safety Levers... Just in case anyone is wondering, I talked with Seal tech support and was surprised at the amount of help they offered even knowing that I'd bought the machine second-hand. As far as the rollers not rolling, the guy I spoke with said there are two safety levers that must be...
  3. Anyone Using Seal EP42 Laminator?

Hi Folks, Is anyone out there using a Seal EP42 laminator? I bought a used one and am having a couple issues. When I first turn the machine on and do a temperature check, the roller temperatures both read about 147-150 degrees, which obviously is a problem. When I change the Program to Cold...
  4. Illustrator mystery...

Island, I think it is the Bounding Box or in the View menu called "Hide Edges." Sometimes I accidentally hit Command H (Control H on PC) when I am trying to hit Command G. That toggles the "Hide Edges" off and on. So if you've done it once, do it again to get it back. Good luck! James
  5. how to make an outline around letters

I have to agree with Bobby H. Don't pile up multiple copies of the same thing and set different stroke weights. You are only inviting problems down the road. I too advise the Offset Path. Another issue that arises with using strokes comes with scaling. If you do have strokes and you scale with...
  6. Using Router for Braille

Thank you Westcoast and Rick. I can see how the Z axis would have to be extremely accurate, and realize the Grade 2 braille bead must be 1/40" above the surface. As soon as we get our ducks in a row, we'll give it a shot. I appreciate the insight! Thanks again! James
  7. Using Router for Braille

Thanks Westcoast We usually send all this stuff out, but if it can be done in house, all the better. Glad to hear someone is doing it and having success. From what I know you must have a program to set the braille correctly, hence the investment into the Flexi 8 option for Duxbury Braille. I...
  8. Using Router for Braille

Hi Folks, Is anyone out there doing braille on their router? We almost always farm out for California Grade 2 braille, which I've been told by our new router operator can be done in house on our Gerber Sabre 408. We are currently using Artpath, but about to move to EnRoute Plus. As we also...
  9. Gerber Sabre 408 Help

Tony, Stevo, Larry, Thank you all so much for the info! I think then, I am on target, just gotta' get the hang of this beast. We are using 5052, and I've never attempted more then .125" per pass. I will try to open up the coolant/air lines and see if that helps. Also, I need to adjust the...
  10. Gerber Sabre 408 Help

Hi there, As I normally run vinyl and digital graphics, I don't have much experience running a router. However, our company is in a bind, and they have me filling in, for our normal router operator, during this time. I am running a Gerber Sabre 408 using ArtPath from a PC. Of course I have...
