  1. Bought a plotter, software, and vinyl. Wondering where to start?

This guy sounds like my boss... "lets give this customer his sign for cost. he knows a lot of people and will get us more business" me "more business that we have to give away at cost?" "..."
  2. Dehumidifier

We had a 70 pint that finally bit the dust. Our boss wouldn't let us replace it even though i pleaded with him. Finally he brought in a 30 pint and it runs constantly and the room is still at 60% humidity. it also fills up after like 3 hours and i have to dump it constantly. the worst is when...
  3. Removeable/Reusable adhesive

http://www.gbcconnect.com/skugroup.aspx?pid=9300915&parent=Laminate&sub=Supplies&product=Pressure+Sensitive&subprod=Arctic+Mounting+Adhesives this is what we've used. our rep referred to it as 'guddy window' so i think its essentially the same thing. the problem is that it failed after...
  4. Removeable/Reusable adhesive

I assume you mean like a static window cling? I've suggested using that, but they say it doesn't work. I've never had an issue with it. We carry the Solvex brand of static cling. Print the image on the front side and then apply that same side to the glass. If they were convinced to...
  5. Best fluid to remove adhesive from vinyl awning?

We always use rapid remover and then go back with alcohol to get rid of the citrus. but it depends on the vinyl/awning fabric our sign guy swears by mineral spirits though. i've always been nervous using that on a car, so i stick with rapid remover.
  6. Removeable/Reusable adhesive

Hi all One of our customers is requesting a removeable and reusable front-mount adhesive for their store windows. basically they want to print 24x36 posters and put them in the windows on the inside of the shop. They want to be able to leave them up for a while, then take them down when...
  7. Any Experience with Arlon Wrap Products?

We only use the 6000XRP in our shop. It's a little harder to work with because it has a more aggressive adhesive then the 3m or easy RS we've used. the prints look great though. That was our old installer though, new installer might switch to a new media.
  8. Some of our wraps

They're a pain, but not as hard as doing the roofs. We take the fenders off completely to wrap under them, as well as the door handles and mirrors and the fake plastic vents on the hood. then put the fenders back on and wrap them. all in all we've done 7 of them and sent two out for their...
  9. Some of our wraps

nope, but their check cleared, so they must be doing something right! but in all honesty, they're a nation-wide franchise and their headquarters are here.

  12. Do you wear your own shirts?

I guess thats pretty similar for us. Our designers just tend to be a little bit older, so they wear nicer clothes. Our front counter and production staff wear anything from jeans to gym shorts and sandals... So do you have your services listed on the shirts? Or do you keep them simple and...
  13. Do you wear your own shirts?

Hi all My company recently purchased a couple of local screenprinting businesses. I've been suggesting that we start printing our own shirts for our employees to wear at work, and just wondering if this is something you all do? Right now our front counter staff just wears whatever they...
  14. Need help with workplace

For iowa they're cities....i can't wait to move away from here after school :D
  15. Need help with workplace

Thanks for all the advice! We've been using the PCR roller since the guy who turned us from a poster shop to a sign shop started working here. Unfortunately, he just left to start his own place in Kansas, so i'm stuck with trying to figure out where to go from here. We've been at this...
  16. Need help with workplace

Its so boring around these parts, the only fun we can have is by making goofy names for the internet. Think i will measure the shop today to see how big it actually is. This site looks like it will be very useful for the coming months...
  17. Need help with workplace

Iowa City all the way baby also, if we isolate the print/lam room, what sort of ventilation do we need to focus on? do we have to have fresh air pumped in/pulled out?
  18. Need help with workplace

Usually we roll a PCR roller over a print before we laminate, but we are having an issue with high saturation prints gathering dust as they come out of the printer. also, since the rooms are all open to eachother, we just crank the heat up in the garage in the winter and crank the a/c up in...
  19. Need help with workplace

Hello everyone! New forum user here, but i've used this site to answer questions before.. Just a little background, we're a print/design shop with several locations, but our production is centrally located in one building. Recently, due to people leaving, i've been placed in charge of all...
