I think it depends on where you are located and your customer. We use all cast materials for anything outdoors. We've tested several different calendared vinyls through the years and they don't seem to hold up to the extreme temperature swings in MN. I've seen some shrink as much as a 1/4"...
I have a long time customer that has requested an electronic drive-thru menu that they can control what is displayed at any given time. Think Mcdonald's but not that large.

I am not familiar with Mutoh but I get the same thing when the humidity is too low with our Roland. Static electricity is causing ink particles to stick to the rollers and then be transferred to the material as it advances through the printer.
I've successfully printed on 1080, laminated, and contour cut. It accepted ink like any print vinyl. Was on a vehicle for two years before it was stripped to be sold and looked just as good as day one without any adverse effect to the adhesive.

I have not cut material quite that thick but have run into a similar issue when the blade holder itself gums up. It would drag the blade through the material rather than it turning the correct way to cut it. Sewing machine oil in the holder worked for a while but ultimately, I replaced the...
I've never had an issue with it peeling and have done several for a local company over the years. In fact, removal is tough as it seems to bond really well to the smooth surface. We use scotchcal 220 as well.
We have a very thorough cleaning process before installation.
