So you scrape the window down with razor blade even if you don't have to remove old vinyl?
I'll make up some soapy water and put in a spray bottle. And probably bring a clean water spray bottle to help remove the soapy water.
Then do final wipe down is 91% isopropal alcohol. I had read to use...
Was in town and in a shopping center. Decided to stop by one of the stores to look at their vinyl graphic. And it had a bad error. There is a thick line that runs into a thick letter. Well, the guy forgot to weld the letter with the line, and so it cut the line into the letter. You know the guy...
I didn't do any vinyl at the barber shop who complained of the wrong font used and poor outside sign done. I just used that as an example of local shops screwing up since a lot of attention here assumes all mistakes are done by newbies.
I don't see what the problem is with giving the customer...
Well one of the members here writes that newbies pretty much shouldn’t be charging while they are learning. But then you are saying pretty much that I charged too little. So I don’t think it really matters.
You didn’t mention about the people I helped. The business would have spent a lot on...
And they didn't get the return job.
Have had cars in different auto shops that screw things up or mess things up, etc. So quit going to those shops and ended up just doing auto work myself. So, doing hack work ends up costing them repeat business.
I never mentioned anything about harming or not harming anyone. Your making up some stuff with things I didn’t say. And I don’t understand why you are claiming I let “this whole thing get out of hand.” I just asked for ballpark figures one would charge a given job.
“However, with spineless...
I could probably prepare the file. Would probably just need to know what kind of registration marks their printer reads. Make a bleed around the outside cut and probably add a couple of small squares to have cut out on top and bottom center which would make aligning and centering a circle easy...
It could be layered, but would have to order several feet of 2 colors plus shipping. And would be screwed if got bubbles or wrinkles and having to reorder. With the risk of bubbles, etc. Would be better to do a single layer print job. Plus good print vinyl has air channels.
I’ve mostly just...
May end up not doing the install. Figured it would be all white text like the last time. But they had a logo designed, with the company name and other text in white inside a solid colored circle background. Then around the colored circle is a black outline. So not a layer job. Talked to them to...
Sometimes the “bold” isn’t bold enough, or some fonts don’t have a bold. So I’ll thicken it up by the outline setting. Which usually causes the nodes to get bundled up in some places sometimes which can cause cutter problems if it’s trying to cut to a bunch of zig zag nodes in a real small area...
Wasn’t planning on it being a job. I go in there every so often and kept looking at the 8”x10” large vinyl word falling off the door. I offered to replace it for free so I could get some experience installing vinyl on glass since I had only done tests with regards to applying vinyl to glass...
I was just doing this as a hobby. Making stuff for myself. Noticed they had a 8"x10" word peeling off and offered to replace it for free for the experience since I hadn't done much on glass. Just practice stuff. Then they asked me to do all of their doors with hours, etc. So designed that out...
Looking to see what I could pick up locally to clean glass for vinyl install? I have been using denatured alcohol as I believe that should leave no residue. Not sure how well that cleans though. I do windex to clean the glass, then wipe down with denatured alcohol to remove residue.
Also, did a...
Have a local business that has two locations, and each has two glass doors. So 4 glass doors in total.
Just doing this on the side and was starting out so did some work labor free. Did the company name and hours, i.e. Mon-Fri and Sat hours with vinyl on their glass doors. Oracal vinyl. Then...
