Oops, I just realized I fell into the trap of saying printing when I meant designing.
I usually design at full scale at 72-75 ppi, and almost always print at 720 x 720 dpi.
I use Flexi Pro 8 as my main design/Rip/Cut program and supplement it with Photoshop, Illustrator, and sometimes AutoCad.

Yes, when you add your contour cut, you can enter a negative number in your Design Central box. This is a great way to cut of that pixelled edge of the bitmap

Welcome to signs101, which version of LXi do you have? Yes, it is about the same as Flexi.(different options on turned on in different versions bewteen the two)
I started with LXi Expert and now use Flexi Pro 8.
Definitely a good thought. I have not change the dampers out. They all have levels about the same and seem to be working the same. When I do my nozzle check, I can see that it's the same ones not firing everytime.
I also print most at 72-75 dpi. Yes, it does have to do with distance. 300 is only needed when viewed from within a foot. Those big billboards are usually printed around 9dpi but they look good going down the freeway.
I am loosing my black and need to get a new head. But until I get it replaced is there a way to turn off the black and just print black using CMY? All 5 of the other colors look fine when I do a nozzle check. It's only Black that is hitting at about 75%. I need to print something solid black...
