It sounds like those are Duratrans lightboxes. They're made for Duratrans prints. Find a trade vendor for Duratrans prints and outsource them.

Fuzz would do the same on paper. And it usually makes droplets, not fading spray.

The Arlon core holders are over 1" thick. The rolls are off the ground. They are also hollow so you get an air gap.

I just save the plastic core holders from the box it's shipped in. Many brands come with lousy core holders that don't work well, but some come with really sturdy, wide holders that work great as stands. Arlon makes some nice ones.
