high impact, Are you referring to the RIPing, rather than the printing portion of Flexi?
  2. How to speed up printing on the versacamm?

goodgirl, Mason's on to it. Flexi is not faster than VersaWorks if all the printer settings are the same. Generally, Flexi defaults to a faster head speed than VW. Check every setting and you should find that there is a "scientific explanation" :) to why Flexi seems to be faster.
  3. TOOO Good of a deal on SP 300V/540V

Call Roland in Irvine, CA with the serial numbers so they can track the life (or at least the birth) of these printers. That should help settle a few questions. If the owner balks at that - walk away. You should also be able to do a Service Report in Service Mode to see how many times the head...

  9. New SP300V...have some rip questions.

Bottomline, I don't think you spoke to Beacon about SignLab. We (Beacon) are a Flexi Dealer, which does have a Designer version we often recommend to VersaWorks users.
  10. Latest Roland XC 540 Firmware

The speed should be independent of the RIP you are using with one exception. Speed will be dependent on several factors including Head Speed. We recommend that every one of our customers install VersaWorks, even if they don't think they will use it. Eventually, users may find that they have to...
  11. say goodbye to printing as we know it ?

Baz, The printer's buffer should be able to spool the job before printing so the computer doesn't have to be a monster.
  12. Latest Roland XC 540 Firmware

Chris, It would be a shame if you can't do the latest Firmware upgrade. Most print modes will realize an increase in speed with the Standard (360 x720) moving from 75 sfh to 150 sfh, a 100% increase in speed. Banding will also be greatly reduced or eliminated in most print modes.
  13. Cs3

You're right about 2 machines. Generally, you can get another activation if you wait a while and call to say one of your hard drives had to be reformatted or had a bad crash. Also, if you are going to make a change in an activated computer, make sure you deactivate CS3 before you make the...

If you put cleaning carts in you'll have to flush the cleaning fluid and waste a bunch of ink. Put a bucket under the drain bottle just in case. How long will you be away, 6 months?:Cool 2:
  16. Image question.

The image should be sent to the RIP as an RGB colorspace (eitherProPhoto RGB or Abobe RGB 1998). You'll get wider color gamut this way. What RIP are you using?

  18. Printing on clear vinyl with clear adhesive

Use Roland's ESM-CCV2 that has an optically clear adhesive, which is the result of the clear liner. The liner keeps the adhesive perfectly flat and, as a result, optically clear. This is the way Oracal keeps their 290GF optically clear. The liner can cause excessive static on the vinyl, so...
