  1. A sign to ponder?

My reasons for not shopping at Wal-Mart have nothing to do with where the goods are made. I'd rather not support their marketing and hiring practices, which are designed to put their competition out of business. I live in a small town of 4000 in Western NJ, which is 40 minutes from a mall in...
  2. VersaWorks isn't Ripping/Cutting...

jester, Your analogy cracked me up. When was the last time you took a woman apart and put her back together?
  3. A sign to ponder?

MobileImpact, I don't disagree with your statement, but can you give some examples of what you perceive as poorly made American goods. Just curious.
  4. A sign to ponder?

Read Thomas Friedman's book, "The World is Flat" and you won't worry so much about Chinese goods or tech support from India. My fear is that some on this forum don't want to know what is going on in the business world today. Roland produces their latest series of cutters in China and they have...
  5. Exceedingly dumb question, re: temp files

I have ccleaner on one computer - the IT guys at work warn against it deleting needed files such as software authorization codes, license info, etc. Can anyone tell me if this could present a problem or is ccleaner safe (or necessary)? Is there a better way to clean the temp folder other than...
  6. profile question

The printing surfaces of 3951GRA and 3951G are the same, so the profile for 3951 should work well on both.
  7. What resolution do you use?

Bogie, I think 1024 is a safe choice for the web. Initially, I was surprised that the NY Times web size was 800 or so, but they have switched to 1024, which should be a barometer for the way "the masses" view the web. In addition, I think Photoshop CS3 requires a minimum screen size of...
  8. Advise Please .....

signtologist, Why the hostility? This fellow Forumite is just looking for solid, friendly advice. Why are you so angry with him/her?
  9. external key, mouse and monitor on laptop... mouse "times out"

I record music on my PC and I tried using a USB expansion hub, which resulted in clicks in the recording. My IT guy told me that hubs don't provide full power to each USB port on the array. I ditched the hub and don't have any more problems. Also, front USB ports can sometimes be underpowered...
  10. 180cv2 Profile For Versaworks

There is no list - it is acquired knowledge:wink: . We are a Roland dealer and I keep on top of most media and the "true" source. Let me know if you have any questions on media and I'll try to answer or get you the answer. We offer several brands of media and I have literature on many other...
  11. 180cv2 Profile For Versaworks

Roland's ESM-PGCT (Premium Glossy Controltac™) is 3M IJ180C. That profile should yield excellent results without building your own profile.
  12. Crashed... What should I do ?

Step away from Windows ME - now turn and run!!
  13. Getting ready to use PC-600

Clean the head with the cleaning pen after every use (and while it's hot).
  14. SP540 cutting by cropmark problem

KR3, Stretching or skewing shouldn't matter with the 540 as Roland touts their Quadralign system with 4 crop marks that - allegedly - will compensate for skewing during lamination. Velocity, I'd call the dealer and have them make it right or at least give you advice.
  15. Corn Dogs, love em or hate em?

KR3 ANY Jersey diner has better fries w/gravy than the best in Vermont.:peace!: fogetaboutit
  16. Corn Dogs, love em or hate em?

Hey Matt, That's good stuff, but a total of 5210 calories. You better share that side order with me!:thankyou: ...and while you're at it, add a Tilamook Milkshake from Burgerville. The best fast food I've ever had (but no corndogs).
  17. Corn Dogs, love em or hate em?

"...sure glad and proud of the soldiers for protecting our freedoms and thanks to Iraq that we do this there, not here on American soil" Me too, but that has no bearing on my dislike for Mr. Bush. The current mis-managed military action is not the only reason for my dislike. And yes, I will...
  18. SP300 or VP300

Banner production is where you will feel the limitation of 30". Vehicle wraps - add one seam or lay it out horizontally, with a horizontal seam (if molding or body lines allow). If banners will be a significant part of your output, go 54"
  19. Motor Feed Error

Roland now offers new media flanges (Part # 100003083) @ $44.00 each. These may be the type that Summa now uses. They have a rubber collar that fits in the media core and a knob on the outside that expands the rubber to seat firmly in the core eliminating slippage. Using the flanges should...
  20. Black overspray

A long shot - could be static charge on the vinyl (especially if the A/C has reduced the humidity to low levels). Wipe it down with an Anti-stat rag or dryer sheet from the rear of the printer after it feeds off the roll but before it enters the print area.
