  1. I Like Gold

I you want it to look like real Gold, print yellow on Vinyl efx or Creative Films Chrome Mirror. The result is very nice.
  2. SP300 tool ribbon cable

The Cut Carraige Cable for the SP-300 & SP-300V is Roland Part #23475207 and lists for $22.80. This must be changed in conjunction with the two guides that are Part # 22305102, which list for $6.00 for the pair. Generally, these are not user-serviceable parts.
  3. Manual needed

GRX-300 is not a valid product number. There is a CX-300 and a GX-300, which is the newest of the two. There is an older one called the CM-300. Here is the link to the CX-300 Users Manual. Between this link and Rick's above you should have your manual...
  4. Daige 4 Laminator Question

Any suggestions on a source for teflon tape? I really just wanted to hit 100 posts!:peace!:
  5. anyone know of this website?

journeyed.com is another site that sells Adobe (and other) sofware for much less than "regular" price. Same support from Adobe, which I find to be VERY GOOD and fully upgradeable. My wife is an administrator at a college in NJ and she has no problem ordering from them with a simple verification.
  6. Daige 4 Laminator Question

Three solutions J Cut the lam so only 1” is left on the aluminum bed. This small amount usually easily lifts off the bed if you are using a sled. Attach a piece of paper to your sled and leave that on the bed with the trailing edge left in front of the laminator for feeding the image to be...
  7. how do I up the dpi on a photo, send by a customer?

I second the Genuine Fractals suggestion but Photoshop CS3 can also upsize pretty well. BUT, you really should tell the client to submit better artwork because no matter how much you explain about the crappy results you will get from their artwork, they'll blame you for an image that isn't...
  8. cx 300 rollers

They are probably out of round from being left down for an extended period of time and, yes, it will effect the vinyl transport and should be replaced ASAP. Roland's part # is 21565102 and they are $30 a piece. When you get the replacements make sure you put the little red dot on the side of...
  9. this a good computer ???

Processor is the weak link and not up to the quality of the rest of the stuff. Make sure the Motherboard can accept a better processor AND run Vista down the road. Sure as hell, within 12-18 months you'll want a program that can only run on Vista. I finally "had to" upgrade to XP Pro to run...
  10. Flexi Dongle

If you buy Flexi from a knowledgable dealer you should never have to call SAI. By the looks of things, most of us could benefit from the spell checker.
  11. Cartridge weights

1 gm of ink = 1 ml of ink I don't know what size carts you have but Roland 220ml carts contain 220gm of usable ink. Weigh your cart when full and empty to see how many gms they hold and you should be able to get a reasonable "ink left" number by weighing a partial. I hope this info helps.
  12. SP300 or VP300

player, 40-50% faster. Also, the VP uses the XC-540 print technology, which has a different, improved ink delivery system. The VP carries a 2-year warranty as opposed to the 1-year warranty of the SP series.
  13. Photoshop question

Try the Channel Mixer to convert to B & W, leave it RGB, click Monochrome and adjust the three R-G-B sliders to add up to 100% (or slightly more or less depending on personal taste). As far as the Stop Sign, I'd select it and save it as a layer and simply drag it back to your Monochromed image...
  14. couple questions on the XC-540

Ronda, No one seems to want to answer your questions so I'll give it a shot. Roll will measure the width of the media, based on the two outside rollers. You MUST use the two outside rollers on the media; you can't use the second roller from the left as your outside roller on the media...
  15. a couple of printing/laminating questions

flamemaster, I agree about Avery but I have to admit we have never had a problem with their laminates. Vinyl, reflective and EZ (with 3M lawsuit) are a different story, one I'm sure too many of you are aware of.
  16. a couple of printing/laminating questions

marktx, Laminate every graphic you put on a vehicle, especially reflective. Quikseps may be a newbie but he knows his reflective!! Lam is for scratch resistance and protection from chemicals, road debris, and carwash brushes. It is very risky to NOT laminate vehicle graphics. I have a...
  17. Disposing of overflow Eco-Sol Max ink

I'd treat it the same as oil-based paint. Your local hazardous waste facility should have no problem properly disposing of it. Do the right thing and leave the planet cleaner than you found it.
  18. Head Height XC-540 On Reflective?

cdiesel, Print heat will have a tremendous impact on the scratch resistance of the printed graphic. Low heat settings can result in poor scratch resistance. Gino, I provided a sample to my customer who asked to try a particular product - careful how you react to a post. Quickseps...
  19. Will this Roland ever live again!!

Do not - repeat - do not put any more money into this boat anchor. Step away from the PC-50.....slowly - now turn and run!! :)
  20. Epson Stylus 7800 Pro printer

As far as I know, there is no cast vinyl compatible with the Epson. I think compound curves are beyond the capability of the Epson since all the material for water-based Ultrachrome inks is coated and calendered. You may be better off sub-ing out the helmet graphics to someone with a solvent...
