  1. JV5 faulty NCU

Yea, the Mimaki "Techs" at the trade shows did a wonderful job of selling this machine as having a compensation type unit that would make-up for lost nozzles; when infact al lit does is tell you how many nozzles are clogged - and most of the time its quite inaccurate. I only find it useful when...
  2. Loud Printing

I hardly think its a high min order. At that rate per square foot they'd be shooting themselves in the foot for anything less.
  3. HP Designjet 4500

How fast is that? I have a JV5 we are using right not to print the same displays and it is VERY quick, dry time is the only issue. And with this we'd be printing 100sq/ft at a time. I'd hope the carts could atleast accomedate that. The research I've done thus far indicates they take a 440ml...
  4. HP Designjet 4500

Any idea how much it runs per square foot in ink costs? I have the opportunity to buy one quite cheap and I'm looking at using it for doing Pop-up displays. The media costs the same whether for my solvent machines, or coated for indoor machines like this one. Thanks in advance!
  5. New JV33-160

IF you have a JV5 and don't mind it - why not get another? I have a JV33 that I'm actually selling because I find it is so slow compared to the JV5 I just don't use it (I PM'd you btw). IF you shop, you can find used JV5s south of $20k.
  6. Anyone here have the Jv5? Thoughts on it?

I agree on the bidirectional issue - even with endless config, can't seem to get a solid print. Same goes on the up-take system, I really think they should come out with a new unit for this machine. I NEVER have problems like this with my JV33 uptake reel. However- I don't agree that it is...
  7. Mimaki JV33 160 Freezing Up

Yea, 2nd that - We have 2gb in our machine and even then its quite slow.
  8. Mimaki JV33 160 Freezing Up

Had the EXACT same problem, and I am running the identical setup. Upgrade to 7.2, and upgrade your Jv33 print driver. Also, what version of firmware do you have on your jv33?
  9. JV33 Printhead, suitable for JV5?

Is his price for real? I'd like to get one if so. and yes, the JV33 and JV5 heads are identical, the JV5 just has 3 more than the JV3 :-)
  10. Onyx profiles for the JV5 - Why do they suck so much?

LOL, do we smell some sarcasim?
  11. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

Yea, I'd love to get my hands on a reference manual! The tech guy I spoke with had it almost memorized - great guy!
  12. Onyx profiles for the JV5 - Why do they suck so much?

    Yea... Just a few
  13. Onyx profiles for the JV5 - Why do they suck so much?

I only have PosterShop, no profiling utility. Plus, why re-invent the wheel? We don't use bulk ink (though I will when we're off warranty) so there are plenty of people out there I could toss a few bucks to buy the profile off of no?
  14. Onyx profiles for the JV5 - Why do they suck so much?

I just bought a used JV5, and hooked it up to Onyx. I downloaded the batch of profiles that onyx has on their site - and they all seem to suck. Flesh tones are way off, and everything else is very cyan heavy. Now keep in mind, I also have a JV33 and downloaded profiles from Onyx and they...
  15. Fumes from JV33

We just installed a JV5 and have the same problem. I haven't got a heat exchanger, but we did get a big carpentry shop dust collector. It does 1800cfm and works pretty well. They are cheap to - $200-$300. You couldn't probably suck the air out of your shop with 2 of those pretty easily.
  16. Which ones i have to choose Mimaki CG160FX / CG160FXII or Graphtec f7000 / FC8000?

I litterally bought this machine on Friday - still in the box but I'll have it setup shortly. I'm in Toronto if you want to check it out some time. I'll let you know my reviews shortly :)
  17. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

WOOO HOOOO! I knew it could be done - Booted in tech mode - went into the # menus.. .under running parameters there is a value called "Ink Fill" #120 or something. IT was set at 0. Set it to 3 and the machine thinks it has ink. I did that, now I'm proceeding with manual head fills and...
  18. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

Ok - how about this Plan B- How about I manually ink fill - sorta? Would it make sense to un-hook the hoses form the pump and pull ink through the head with a syringe while someone else holds the valve open on the cartridge? (This can be done easily). Does this make sense? This way I'll...
  19. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

ok, thats what I didn't know - whether or not you could manually move the capping station like that. WDP - I tried that but it seems I was right about the IC chip reading 0 once it has been emptied. even with it taped over solid it still tohught the cart was empty.
  20. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

I'm going to try this - but I suspect that Mimaki has a procedure built into the cartridge that once it reaches 0 it writes to the IC chip to say it can't be filled up any more - otherwise people would just re-fill the OEM cartridges more often... no?
