  1. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

Where are these clips? I looked on the back of the cart and didn't see anything/ But when I did that - I was thinking, what if I take a syringe, and pull ink out of one cart and shove it into an empty one. Could this work? OR does that IC chip store a value on it indicating whether the cart...
  2. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

Ya- I had a JV3 before and am familiar with that proceedure. Unfortunatley this machine has a motor that brings the capping station up and down anddoesn't seem to want to move easily so I don't want to force it. And yea - the tubes are a huge problem to. Re plumbing a machine with 32 ink...
  3. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

tried that but can't seem to get the heads to move off the capping station. It looks to be pretty complex on this unit.
  4. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

I guess going a step further - is there a way that I can make the machine think its already done the ink fill and all is good - then just proceed to do several regular ink-fills to top re fill the lines?
  5. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

No, they emptied the machine completley of ink and there is no fluid in it at all. And I don't think those cartridges have a sensor like that which I could tape down.
  6. *Urgent* - Need to trick a Jv5 into thinking it has all full carts....

I just bought a Jv5 used from someone in the states. Now I was advised to flush the pipes dry for the 10 hour transport, and then do an ink fill when we got it out of the truck. It sounded weird, but we did. Unloaded the printer, and it seems 4 of the 16 cartridges are out of ink, and the...
  7. What is a refresh rate and what does it mean?

Well thats a bit different from the refresh rate. Refresh rate is a setting that has something to do with often the head or nozzles refresh while the printer is printing I believe. What you guys are refering to is the routine cleaning. This can be adjusted on your machine to be as often as...
  8. What is a refresh rate and what does it mean?

Sorry, I've been using mimaki's for a while, but I'm sorta self taught so various terminology I don't have an understanding for. Could someone explain exactly what the mechanics of this term are - and not just "It refreshs the print nozzles". And on a scale of 1 - 3 what would this mean...
  9. JV33 - Heat Problem?

WOW, you guys really run at that high heat? How many pass? I run my post heater at 50c and leave the others off. The radiant heat from the post heater tends to keep the print at about 32c and the pre around 28c. No curling, and no head strikes (unless you have the head to low). When...
  10. Anyone here have the Jv5? Thoughts on it?

We're getting it from Ben Sak in New York city. Its a dealer trade in, but its had all the upgrades done to it necessary.
  11. New Mimaki CJV-30-130 or Roland VP-540?

Personally I'd say get two seperate units. If production picks up do you want one machine tied up doing two different tasks? I guess alot of it is a space thing. Media wise I wouldn't suggest getting anything less than a 54". Right now it may seem like a good buy, but your shooting your...
  12. What is the best system setup for running onyx?

Any word as to the effectiveness of dual core processors with Onyx, or does it only support single core processing? I think we're going to throw 10gb or so of ramm in our rip computer. Hopefully it'll speed things up a bit more.
  13. What is the best system setup for running onyx?

Oh yea? What so special about the signburst systems? As for quad processors or quad core, I don't know if Onyx supports quad core processing. I guess I'll have to give them a call. We don't run anything else on this computer, just Onyx (our rip). We have several other computers for graphics...
  14. What is the best system setup for running onyx?

I'm currently running a p4 3.6 ghz with 2 gb of ram on windows 32bit. I'm thinking of upgrading to 64 bit so I can run more ram. Ideally this will speed up rips a bit. Thoughts?
  15. Help - Problems with one Magenta bank loosing 20-50% of nozzles...

Well thats the thing - Im not really getting air anywhere (visibly atleast) I know all I need is a microsopic amount mind you.
  16. Anyone here have the Jv5? Thoughts on it?

Well I couldn't let the deal pass - Put down the deposit and I'm going to get the machine this week. Got a CG-160 cutter with it as well. I'm going to keep my Jv33 for the time being as a back-up, but might sell it once I build up a comfort level with this new machine. Cheers!
  17. Help - Problems with one Magenta bank loosing 20-50% of nozzles...

Well turns out I didn't know about the solonoide on the back of each cart (to use to my JV3 I guess). I replaced the valve assembly on the top of the damper, and still getting the problem. and yes- I did have the tab mis-aligned, but that has since been fixed. One tech mentioned...
  18. Anyone here have the Jv5? Thoughts on it?

I love it - people are so split on this machine.
  19. Anyone here have the Jv5? Thoughts on it?

Yea, I've read some good and bad. Particularly on the ink drying issue. what other issues have you heard of?
  20. Anyone here have the Jv5? Thoughts on it?

I'm looking at getting one of these machines and I wanted your input on it? I don't necessarily need it to run that fast - but a bit faster than my JV33 would be nice. Are you able to notice much banding with it even when a few nozzles aren't firing? With that being said - how well does the...
