That's a good point. I told him I needed it for designing with Photoshop and Illustrator and he built it with that in mind. So far, it works great.
I'm not a techie enough to say it would run faster with this component or that one. I'm sure someone here can give you some basic specs to build around.
Great timing on this thread. We needed another computer to do design work from home. We are almost all Mac but we use a PC to drive our Seiko so we've integrated the PC into the workflow. A friend of mine builds computers for gaming and he was able to come up with a great combination of speed...
Check for local market prices also. Don't assume the street price is $X per sq. ft. without verifying. This way you'll be competitive without leaving money on the table. Your customers, hopefully, will tell you whether your prices are out of line or not.
I've talked with a couple people with the Daige QM4's who basically use it with sheets of lam rather than the roll mount. They trim the lam to the print size, with an overlap all around, and then feed it through that way. This may just be a workaround but it seems to work for them.
I've got one of the $175 ebay machines and so far it's worked out fine. On some banner vinyls it will get some puckering around the grommet. Is this caused by the grommet/die/machine/my breath?
Thanks guys. Just to make sure I understand, is this the order:
1. Place background layer
2. Place top layer
3. Place transparent tiff file over top layer
4. Adjust transparency of top layer (but only where the rip is)?
Are you able to adjust portions of the layer or will the entire layer be...
Thanks for the reply. I don't know what the steps are to achieve what I'm trying to do. I signed up for a Photoshop class but it's not until mid-Sept.
Until then, it's trial and error and asking questions.
I've searched and tried the Photoshop help and I still can't figure this out. I'm using CS2 and I'm trying to create an image with three layers:
1. Background fill
2. Top fill
3. Transparent tiff file "looking through" the top fill to the background. In this case, it's a ripped metal file from...
There have been some changes at Kodak/Encad over the past year that have changed their level of tech support. I know a few people with Encad printers who are complaining that the service level has dropped off.
If you're looking at buying one, I'd make sure you can get parts and service if needed.
First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped us out over the past few months. The advice has been invaluable.
We just opened up our shop this week. My wife and I will split duties with both of us doing production and design work and me doing sales/marketing. I am open to looking at all...
I've been struggling with contour cutting on my Graphtec until today. I called Graphtec's tech support and the guy I spoke with was awesome. He walked me through the process from start to finish, didn't rush me and made sure I knew how to get it all set up again.
I'm designing in Illustrator...
Are you working on a Mac using the Cutting Master plugin? I was on the phone with Graphtec's tech support yesterday about an issue I was having and they said they strongly suggest the Cutting Master for Windows version. They made it sound like the Mac version is very buggy. They directed me to...
