As mentioned earlier, make sure you have the most current firmware. I recently had the same problem with my FC7000-160 and as soon as I updated the firmware it was perfect.

You could buy a Roland GX-24 with optical registration. You still have to print on one machine and bring it over to the Roland but it would be much easier than with the CX.

Success! This may be lameness on my part but when working in Illustrator, if I selected the image, and then did a live trace, then went to "File", "Send to Signcut" I could import the image in Signcut and cut from there. Is this a common step that I just didn't know about?
