  3. Promoting your business ...

Word of mouth seems to be working best for me. I do some work for car dealerships and there is not alot of money in it unless it is custom work on cars. I pass out cards as much as I can. Referals seem to be the biggest part of how I get work. Give them good service at a fair price and they will...

  5. DC-DC4sx unsupported materials used

I think I may be the only one on here with a DC4SX. I have printed on several of the rtape specialty materials. White, yellow, red, orange, and light blue Oracal 651 so far and still trying others. The only color I have found so far that the machine does not like is black. Its overall...
  6. Suggestions for practicing and learning

Switching wont hurt you a bit later on. If you are just doing things for you self and friends the Oracal 651 is a good choice to start with. Lots of colors weeds good and can be used for lots of things from car numbers to banners. Jimmy I may have some 651 that I could make you a good deal on.
  7. Summa DC4

I should have pictures of the jr this week. As far as the rtape they have a printable series out now and it works real nice with the thermal. The pace for printing is a little slow but it is ready to apply as soon as it comes off the printer. Each machine has its own benifits and draw backs so...
  8. Summa DC4

I have one and like it. Wrapped a jr dragster last week and it came out great. I run a drag car and have done several. The ability to print on specialty materials like offered by R-tape has been a big seller. Summa will send you some samples or if you want to sub some work to get a feel for what...
  9. Eagles talon

I need a eagles talon or a talon tearing through a surface for a project. I found an eagle on Freds site I could possible use. If you have a source that may have a talon or claws it would be a big help. Thanks Jimmy
  10. need a quick tip if possible...

What material? For something that big you will need two people and a stiff squigie. If it is regulat HP I would do it with a hinge and a little wet to prevent it from sticking to soon. The excess moisture is from not getting it down without missing spots as you go. I would use a 6" blade with...
  11. thermal printers

I think I have gotten to know it well and feel comfortable with it now. The learning curve going from cut vinyl only to doing print work was a strain on the old brain but I survived. The machine does very well and fits what I do. The biggest problem I have had to over come is that there are so...
  12. Which best describes You?

I selected part time but I am some where in the middle between part time and full time work from home shop. I have a 1300 square foot shop I work out of that is fully equiped for metal fabrication and sign production and another 200 square feet of office space with the printer and plotter. Jimmy
  13. thermal printers

They look very nice and quick to compared to my Summa but at 85K its very expencive for a 36 or 40 inch printer. Jimmy
  14. Tiger Artwork

Are you going to cut it or print it? Jimmy
  15. Edge print width- can it be pushed?

May want to look into the DC4 from Summa. Give them a call and tell them what you want to print on. Or if it you have any 30" wide material I'll run a test print for you if you send me some. They have a nice assortment of spot colors. Jimmy
  16. Changing opacity of a pic in X3

Thanks I knew it was there just could not find it and was not having any luck with the manual. Been getting better at Corel since I got this printer and learning something new everyday, just not enough days in the week. Jimmy :thankyou:
  17. Changing opacity of a pic in X3

I am working on a banner design and doing it in X3. I have a pic I want to use as the background and want to change the opacity. I looked everywhere and can not find how to do it using X3. I ended up doing it in photoshop to get through the design but there has to be a way to get it done in X3...
  18. printing on static cling

If you decide to go with the DC4 I'll be glad to help with the learning curve if I can. Jimmy
  19. To Lease or not to Lease

I have mine leased through Summa with the 10% buyout at the end. If I want to keep it it is not much to buy it out and if I want to go a differant direction with my shop the payments were a little lower during the lease period. And the folks Summa use for there lease program are very easy to...
  20. NE1 have a DC4 and an Inkjet?

The rip does do a good job and there are options for tiling and doing multable copies. One of the things I have done is set up the sheet with the way I want multable items layed out and then tell it in the rip how many copies I want. When doing large numbers of small decals I print enough to...
