I remember reading this 7+ years ago when we got our S80600 and i was freaking out that i just bought a machine that was not suitable for our needs. So I printed a few 12" squares of solid red, orange & CMYK, I installed 1 set on the roof of my building, facing up at the sky, 1 set on my back...
I have a 63" printer and even I don't print banners in house, I send them to a wholesaler, who prints, hems and grommets it at a price that allows me to 3x-4x their price to my customer.
We were told that subscription software would allow the developers to put out patches and updates more frequently and not have to wait for major updates, but this is not the case with onyx.
Subscription software is horrible for the consumer, there is no incentive for the software companies to...
All of the conveyor based cutters use a sacrificial mat for routing to avoid this, we switched from the foam mat on our summa f1612 to 6mm thick MDF and it works better than the foam.
That's odd, with an upcut bit, the side facing the bed of your machine should be perfect because the bit is sheering that side. A few things to check:
1 is the bit sharp?
2 are you cutting in the correct direction? We find climb cutting works best for ACM
3 are you getting enough vacuum hold...
I'm not a huge fan of roland, however their little desktop solvent machine sounds like what you need, it prints on 20" media, and has a cutter built in. Keep in mind it is extremely slow, but as an entry level machine for decals it sounds like a winner...
This is not the issue I have, my issue is if I need to print say 500 copies of something and set my page length to say 96", onyx will nest the files and it should generate a cut file that it send to cut server for each 96" page, however onyx is not generating a unique summa barcode for each...
What is happening is this, say you need to print 100 copies of 3 different signs on Coloplast, in onyx I would set my page size to 48x96 and onyx would nest the signs into however many sheets I need, each sheet would get it's own barcode and cut file for the digital cutter to read.
Now you load...
Yeah I'm not usually someone to test new software, I've been burned before, however when I upgraded from 12 to 22.5 it came with a year of free updates, and that year is running out soon so I thought I would get the latest and greatest....
I've gotten the best blacks by using RGB black, it converts to a beautiful deep black on our epson s80600.
The laminate you are using sounds like an inexpensive general purpose laminate, if you step up to a 2 mil wrap laminate you won't get any colour shift, and the gloss level is so much...
Yeah i still have 22.5 installed as well luckily. My Onyx advantage subscription is running out in about a month, I asked the tech is this issue isn;t fixed by then, am i going to be forced to purchase another year to get it working? He wasn't sure... Seems like a good business model, release...
Turns out I can, but only because just out of shear luck, all the sheets i've printed so far are identical there are 2 designs that I needed a high quantity of and when onyx nested them it just so happened it nested 6 of the larger signs and 10 of the smaller signs per sheet, and I noticed it...
Just to give everyone a heads up, there is a known issue in Onyx 24 where printing multiple pages will not generate a cut file for each page. I have a job to print a few hundred safety signs, I'm printing on vinyl then mounting to coroplast to cut out on our summa F1612. i set my page size in...
yes, the 40600,60600 & 80600 all use the same inks, the only difference is the 60600 is dual CMYK and the 80600 has additional colours available (red, orange, LC,LM, LK, White, Silver)
I usually put shipping cost TBD on my quotes, if they insist on knowing I tell them that I'm going to make an educated guess, then add a healthy margin to cover me in case I'm wrong and they will pay less if they let me bill out actual cost at the time of shipment, but some companies need the...
We have a few non profit groups around here that come to us, but not for all their Signage, they might get a banner from us, but yard signs from another local shop, and postcards from another, they spread their spending around, and the reason they do this is they now have a larger vendor pool...
I think we've all been there before, I have a handful of customers who hit me up every year for their golf tournaments etc. I too have a difficult time saying no and potentially loosing them as a client, but at the end of the day you have to weigh it up. We have one customer who spends around...
