  1. need flatbed UV recommendation

I liken the Kyrocera heads to an Australian Shepherd. If you don't run them, they are a big pain in the ass. But if you do, they are awesome.
  2. BriteLine 70/30 Oce Colorado 1650

I'd move to the Continental Panorama One if I were you. I want to say that Far From Normal sells it, but if they don't, you can hit me up as I have stock in Chicago. The release liner is better for lay flat performance and I've got a ton of Colorado users running the Panorama One. It's also a...
  3. need flatbed UV recommendation

Fluid Color is a great option. You can get a 4x8 with Ricoh Gen 6 heads CMYK+W for right around $100K. 2 year warranty. You can take a class to learn most of the basic fixes (they are very easy) and then for the big problems you'd bring in the real technicians. With just one row of CMYK+W...
  4. Alternative for using flatbed cutter

I don't know of anything in that price range, although you might be able to find a used XY cutter if you do long runs of the same size prints. New XY cutters are going to be $30K or more.
  5. Dual Layer printer recommendations

are you looking to do this with an adhesive? I've got a two part solution where you can print on a clear and print on an opaque then laminate them together on a laminator...from there you can plot/mask/whatever and then apply to a window.
  6. Is there a way to score the liner for decals?

There is already some calendared vinyl available where the release liner is already slit every 1.5" or 2". I forget the distance. Works quite well, too. I've only sold a few rolls (and I don't stock it) but I can get it for you should a calendared product be suitable for your decal job. This...
  7. Cleaning windows with window perf

The perf manufacturers do not recommend laminating perf unless it is on a vehicle. On a side note, one really cool feature of the Colorado UV Gel inks is they are chemical resistant. Here's a video I love
  8. Briteline Multigrip

The film likely needs a thicker coating of adhesive in order to stick to the texture. Try the Retac from Drytac. It is a lot less expensive than 3M, you don't laminate it (even less expensive), and I've never seen an issue on the overlaps and we've sold thousands of rolls.
  9. Wholesaler for anti graffiti prints

I've got a Drytac anti-graffiti laminate. 54"x50' rolls are $274.81. It is a 7 year film outdoor, longer indoor (although not a lot of need for indoor anti-graffiti).
  10. From FB750 to EFI

I saw it at the show but didn't catch what the price point is. If you are in the market for a good hybrid, you should also check out Fluid Color. They have 98" and 126" hybrid units which are in the similar speed range but I'm going to guess are less expensive and they don't require any...
  11. Please get me up to speed on Colorado

that's an overlooked point....with normal UV and especially with solvent inks, the inks haven't had time to cure and harden enough and when you throw the vinyl around in the finishing stage (like on a welder or sewing machine) it is easy to scratch the inks. Not a problem with the Colorado.
  12. Please get me up to speed on Colorado

I'd love the opportunity to quote and I live in Michigan! 64" roll-to-roll Prints in matte mode, glossy mode, or in Flex Finish Plus mode which uses both matte and gloss at the same time. We tell people inks are $.10/ft2 but most people say $.08/ft2 and many people on this site claim closer to...
  13. Help! Lines in lamination finish.

Souldar - by the way, back off on your supply tension....the way your print is curled way up on the end is a sign that you are stretching the hell out of the laminate. Less is more....you just need a little bit of drag. If you apply that to a board or wall or whatever, the graphic, for the...
  14. Help! Lines in lamination finish.

If the lines happen every "X" inches for XXX feet, then someone likely left the rollers down and in contact with each other for a weekend or a week. You'll end up with a flat spot in the rollers if you do this. If you have heat, turn the heat the highest temperature you can and let the...
  15. What's the thickest/deepest item you printed directly on to with a UV Flatbed? Something more than golf balls

We sell the Roland "object printers" which are very deep and can also add the ability to print on bottles. I've got customers who print on mini basketballs and Christmas ornaments with these units. Looks great. www.RolandDGA.com
  16. Laminator Purchase Checklist

so I haven't sold the new slitter which I'm told can slit "down" to cut prints after they've been laminated OR you can turn the blades up to slice "up" to cut excess laminate before the lam gets to the main roller. Sounds like a great idea, but sometimes when you try to do two things okay...
  17. Laminator Purchase Checklist

In USD, the laminator is $14K, the static string (recommend) is another $120.00 and the slitters are $1000.00. The slitters are cool but only get them if you typically get long runs of the same size prints. If your print sizes vary all the time, then the slitters are not nearly as useful. You...
  18. Laminator Purchase Checklist

You really don't need to worry about having a local tech with the Kala. 95% of the fixes you can EASILY do on your own. I've sold hundreds of these things and they work very well and last for years. I've got a shop in Michigan which is just now having some issues after running it two shifts a...
  19. 3M 8508 alternative

I've got a product from Drytac which is available in a 5 or 7 year polymeric calendared construction. The 7 year film is awesome. It is in the same pricing range as well. Paired with their perm, 7 year air-egress vinyl and you've got a nice sandwich. Spec sheets are attached. This stuff is...
  20. Laminating tricks to avoid accidents?

unless you are going to be stretching your graphics, using cast is like putting premium gas in a Pinto. Go to an "intermediate" laminate (polymeric calendared) if you want 5 years or an economy laminate for 3 year performance. You can buy large rolls of brown kraft paper to put on the bottom...
