  3. Any Humans that actually work on Summa plotters in the United States

We have a Summa cutter repair site and I think we're the only Summa dealer that offers this service. There is a "depot assessment" that we offer where you can ship us your cutter for a full evaluation and we test everything including the various electronic boards, motors, belts, sensors, etc...

We carry all the different Summa blades, blade holders, cutting strips, etc. if you need them(www.airmark.com). Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. Best regards, Phil Johnson Airmark Corporation (800)527-7778, ext. 112 philj@airmark.com
  5. Question Summa D series: Cutting magnet sheets?

Cutting magnetic material is challenging from a tracking/feeding perspective, especially with the thicker magnetic materials. Assuming you are using something 15-20 mil, I would use a table on the front and rear of the cutter to reduce the sag weight, slow the velocity(cutting speed) down, and...

  7. Plotter Cutting Curves Jagged

If you are in fact using a 45 degree blade with your HP cutter(rebranded SummaCut or S1 D Series), that is likely your issue. The 45 degree blades are only available for the Summa tangential models, not the drag knife models, so you're going to want to either use a 36 degree blade for materials...

  9. Summa technician in the St. Louis, MO area

When you purchased the replacement handle, did you purchase the full kit from Summa that includes the switch? There is a contact switch that comes with the kit and either the handle is not making contact with the switch(which is what lets the cutter know that the pinch rollers are lowered) or...
  10. Summa F1612 Flatbed

Good afternoon, There is a perforation tool available for the F-Series that you could use for this application. It functions similarly to the creasing tools. Here is a photo of what the tool looks like - What sort of application did you have in mind that requires perforation? Best...
  11. Summa F1612 Air Compressor

There are several guides, and some companies make their own, so it's possible the one you received is quite a bit different than the one we created(which we started when we owned and operated Summa and then refined it over time). If you aren't getting any pneumatic tools, there is no need at all...
  12. Summa F1612 Air Compressor

Good afternoon, The air compressor that you select will vary depending on whether you are getting any of the pneumatic tools like the POT or high frequency router, but if you aren't getting any of the pneumatic tools a "pancake" compressor will be sufficient for the media advance clamps. If...

What firmware revision are you trying to install and what version of Cutter Control are you using? I am confident our tech team(www.airmark.com/support) can figure this one out, but if you didn't purchase this equipment from us you would first need to purchase one of our support plans before...
  15. Any tricks to make HP Latex 54 Plotter cut finer, better detail? (sample pics attached)

I would double check to make sure you have your blade depth set correctly and also that the blade holder is seated properly in the bracket on the cutting head. Once you get those set correctly and get a nice clean test cut square, I would then reduce the cutting speed when cutting these detailed...
  16. Summa DC5 Basic Setup Questions

I second everything that Frank said and I would also double check that the media you are using is designed for use with a thermal transfer printer like the DC5. A lot of materials have top coatings or surfaces that aren't receptive to the resin used with the thermal ribbons, so you'll want to...
  17. Summa S2 Issues

What version of SCC is installed? Do you have the Summa Cutters Tools and Summa Camera Control installed? For Windows 11, version 5.11 must be installed for things to work correctly. Best regards, Phil Johnson Airmark Corporation (800)527-7778, ext. 112 philj@airmark.com

  19. Cutting Issue On Summa S One D160

The cutter you purchased years ago was sold almost immediately after it was returned and evaluated(not an issue on the machine), and hasn't had any issues since it was resold. User error is a lot different than machine failures and the machine was far from a lemon. Best regards, Phil Johnson...
