Very easy to find with Google. The vinyl is applied with heat and forms to fit the textured surface, including the mortar lines.

The OP said brick, so I was also referring to brick. Vinyl can be applied to brick, block and a whole slew of other surfaces.

Yeah he's probably talking about a frame that gets taped to the wall. The frame has a thin metal ferrous sheet in the face side and the faceplate has magnetic sheeting on the back (or vice versa). The frame stays in place, the faces can easily be removed/relocated.

I personally wouldn't give them any install advice if they insist on installing it themselves. Metal sucks trying to get studs through. If you drill the "correct" size hole, the studs will bind and sometimes you won't be able to get them in all the way....and it can be an absolute bear to get...
