  1. Mounting vinyl onto wood

It depends. If it's a sign that is meant to be there for a long time and is of a very professional nature then 6mm but it's heavy. You can also use Alumalite which is light but you should use an edge cap for a more finished look. If it's a work site sign screwed to 2x4's, a sign at a baseball...
  2. US Tariffs, Sigh!

What a great question! Step one... 1. Willing to take risks to gain rewards. 2. Surrounding yourself with smart people, often smarter than yourself. 3. Having a good support system. 4. Above average confidence. 5. Use the banks money vs. your own and the gray areas of the tax law. 6. Maximize...
  3. US Tariffs, Sigh!

So did I! I also voted for Ron Paul. Wish one of them would have gotten in
  4. US Tariffs, Sigh!

Here's a good read on his bankruptcies. Without doing a real deep dive into this, most of them are casino's/hotels during the recession in the 1990's. It's odd to me you think he's not a good businessman. He's a billionaire, you don't get rich from making more bad decisions than good decisions...
  5. US Tariffs, Sigh!

You guys are in for a hell of a post come Monday! LOL
  6. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I like to keep in mind something my son said last race car season to some guy who got in face about how to race. "When you win more races than me, then I'll listen to you. Until then, I'm going to listen to drivers who are winners." - (we were waiting for the fists to fly but the guy just...
  7. Mounting vinyl onto wood

I didn't know that...I've never really used it though but good to know!
  8. Central Florida, small business.

You need to be specific about what kind of signs you're making. We don't need pictures. If you are looking to buy a printer and you have the electric taken care of then you are or can hire a licensed electrician, which as you know is mandatory for any lighted sign. I assume you are making some...
  9. Central Florida, small business.

I'm usually the positive person on here but...something is missing. There's no way she is making that kind of money doing those kinds of small orders. I'm one person and started with a plotter. I subbed all my prints out for a couple years then got a printer. I'm busy and doing very well. I...
  10. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I have had mice in every house I ever owned. Either I have a mouser cat or I put poison out. This Fall I found droppings in my kitchen drawers so I knew it was time for poison. That b*tch had babies in my living room tv cabinet. I found her dead when I came home from work in my living room and...
  11. printing for larger companies

I google mapped it. Pick up location doesn't show this company nor does the by appointment location. Does show a Signarama in the appointment building. I will not bee ordering from them.
  12. printing for larger companies

Shouldn't it be... "Something Beeyond Printing"
  13. US Tariffs, Sigh!

You're right. I've never been concerned with tariffs in my 51 years of life in the US. Out of all the people I know, under 10% have any real knowledge of what is happening in the world - right or wrong, liberal or conservative. 60% of the people catch a story here and there, the rest don't...
  14. US Tariffs, Sigh!

And I would vote for it again.
  15. Convincing a customer that their file is low resolution

I do the same thing. Some people understand quickly and others it takes several emails or a phone call. If the customer is in the area and it's not a rush I offer them to stop in and look on my computer.
  16. Wholesale for reflective with gloss coating

The problem is the wooden billboard they rented is crooked by 2" so I had it planned to be 24" but it has to be 26" to cover up the plywood backing. I might just try it. The sign is going to be up for summer then taken down over winter...hmm
  17. Wholesale for reflective with gloss coating

I printed a "billboard" on my Latex with gloss laminate last month. The customer wants another changeable seasonal sign below 26"x14'. I have no reflective vinyl left so I wanted to just order it printed instead of buying a roll and not using the rest. Signs365 $336.00 B2Sign $136.50 >>>>>...
  18. Need some advice for a banner! ️

You would use velcro...the sticky kind then put it a strip down the sides. You could hem just the one edge or don't finish it. You could also use banner tape or carpet tape, that would give you a real smooth seam. I think velcro might be more forgiving to work with. Or the zip ties if it's just...
  19. Hello from Minnesota

    Welcome from Wisconsin!
  20. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I heard Premier Ford might turn off my electricity in Wisconsin. Hopefully all those ugly wind turbines we have can keep my printer running (insert sarcasm here). If you don't hear from me, I'm hand painting signs by candlelight...
