  1. Need Help Glass Door Decals (New to me)

I will disagree with the use of calandered vinyl. I only use cast for window lettering. The cost difference in a project like this is just a few dollars. Cast is a better product vs cal But you do you.
  2. The joys of customers...

We have a disclaimer on all of our quotes that states dirty vehicles are subject to a $100 cleaning fee and can result in the delay or even rescheduling the project. Our work flow is such that we are preparing the vehicle at the same time the graphics are being produced or they have already...
  3. Anyone have an idea what causes this?

Is it happening in a consistent pattern? If it is it may be the material but is put money on ink starvation. That is a large field of a solid color and can happen at your faster print speeds. Out of the box profile(s) or have you built your own? Linearized your profiles?
  4. What's this called?

We’d use our laser engraver with a material like Romark or the like
  5. Question Which materials are good for metal poster printing?

ACM Aluminum sheets Steel ???? Find various materials, do some R&D and see what works best for you. Are you cutting / routing or just print on precut pieces? Variables variables variables!
  6. wall wrap material

GF 226 works well for us. No lam. Eco-solvent printed. Recently did a 150’x17’ wall. Has been up for a few months. No problems.
  7. Guidance on material thickness

Really had to ask this question? WOW!
  8. Laminator question

Factors in lamination - Your pressure is too little or too much - Same for the tension on your laminate and vinyl We have the hand operated Graphic Partners and a pneumatic Seal. Both operate essentially the same. The GP laminator we bring the rails together and then give it just a little...
  9. Used Aluminum Composite Sign Panel Sheet

I take my to a recycling place. You don’t get much for it but better than just throwing it away. We take stuff in 1-2x a year.
  10. Can backing paper separate more easily if job has sat for a time after plotting?

A few things…. What degree blade are you using? For calandered and cast vinyl you should be around a 45 degree blade. Also make sure your blade is sharp. The tip of the blade needs to be just barely out of the blade holder (if yours has a cover) Then you need to adjust the speed, pressure...
  11. Polymetal/Dibond cut to circles

Are you looking for blank material? We could easily do that. Not to mention print if needed too.
  12. Preferred wall wrap vinyl.

GF 226 Wall Mark Works wonderful. We use this all the time for flat, drywall, temporary projects. In fact we are just starting on a 600’ x 12’ (total) project. Goes up for about 2 months. Not had any issues in using this material. Now for sand texture, block, brick, etc. we use 180 or...
  13. 3M IJ 180C on block wall

I would not say “epic” You are just installing and did not make the graphics right. Have them sign off on any failures or issues that may arise. Also let the client know the situation. It was their call not yours. We just did an install for another sign company and we told them that the...
  14. How To videos

I’m sooooo glad I don’t do that anymore. I get 2-3 boards done in the same amount of time it took him to print/lam (assumed)/mount. Still do it but not that much….
  15. Preferred material for enclosed trailer wraps

Yes we have. I’ve use or installed all of the 180 line. Also 380/480/780(? The reflective wrap line). I believe the cv3 line is the one that 3M is making the most of and the others may or may not be in stock at vendors.
  16. Preferred material for enclosed trailer wraps

Never calandered in my shop. Always cast. Period. I don’t care for Oracal. I find 3M and Avery cast materials to be better. Avery is about $2/sqft (1105 vinyl and 1360 lam) 3M is about $2.15/sqft (180cv3 vinyl and 8518 lam) Plus your ink cost….. Cars, trucks, vans, work trailers, 53’...
  17. Plotter woes

Few things….. How long is the piece you are cutting. Longer the piece you might have to slow your cutter down. Check for skew before you send to cut. Is your cutter clean? Clean the “grit” wheels from build up. As you run your machine those wheels build up paper, dust and even adhesive. If...
