  1. Tape Mount Acrylic Lettering

A stencil cut pattern out of a semi-rigid material (cardboard, Coroplast, etc.) is by far the fastest and most accurate way to install. However, that hasn't fully caught on (and in some cases it can just be a flimsy mess if there's not enough spacing to maintain rigidity), so pretty much every...
  2. 6" high, 1/4" thick acrylic letters on aluminum cladding

Agreed, if the install surface is clean, tape and Lexel would be fine.
  3. 6" high, 1/4" thick acrylic letters on aluminum cladding

If you decide to stud mount, you'll need to drill the holes slightly larger than the standard 3/16" (assuming the typical 10-24 studs are used)....otherwise the studs will bind up and get to a point where you can't get them in and can't get them out.
  4. Suggestions Non-sign making predicament..............

EGO is top of the line in codless OPE. Sounds like a glitch on the DeWalt....they're pretty reliable.
  5. Finding Sign Codes

My initiation into the sign industry was compiling sign codes for every address the company was quoting, selling, etc. Compiled over 1400 over 4 years. Municode is the best source. Amlegal is another option. I think there were one or two more, but I can't recall what they were. We would...
  6. Please help what Silicon adhesive for this particular application

Not crystal clear on what you're doing, but if you're adhering acrylic to something, I would recommend Lexel.
  7. Looking for recommendations: mounting tape, semi-permanant (12mo)

3M Command Strips, available pretty much anywhere.
  8. Question Anyone in Texas collecting unemployment?

Unemployment is for employees - people who work for someone else. The Paycheck Protection Program is for the self-employed. You don't have to show job searches if you're self-employed....only if you're an employee collecting unemployment.
  9. Anyone install letters on this surface and live to tell about it?

That's also that composite wall material, not ceramic. Super easy to drill.
  10. Anyone install letters on this surface and live to tell about it?

Yep.... it's completely doable, but it's going to suck a little. Bring diamond core bits, water, towels, and lots of patience.
  11. Anyone install letters on this surface and live to tell about it?

If it's ceramic, it's going to kind of suck. Going to need a few diamond core bits, etc. Pretty sure this is a composite panel - not ceramic. They're pretty easy to drill.
  12. Name change

For what it's worth, I think this would have been a perfect introductory post when you joined. As far as a name, I think using your own shows transparency.
  13. Installing Flat letters with tape & Adhesive

He's talking about stud-mounting. It's sometimes a better way to go....especially on drywall that has been painted. The formulation of most paints purposely make it difficult for items to adhere to them. You should be fine with tape, but studs are more of a sure deal.
  14. Installing Flat letters with tape & Adhesive

I think it is. It can be done using just the bottom of the pattern, but using top and bottom guarantees accuracy. I tape the entire pattern up, then take a sharp pair of scissors and cut along the top and bottom, leaving just the very tops and bottoms of the letters. If you leave too much, the...
  15. WILL VHB tape stick and hold to Brick???

You didn't ask me, but just go with RP45. It's about half the cost of most other VHB's and works great.
  16. Installing Flat letters with tape & Adhesive

Stencil-cut patterns from coroplast, cardboard, etc. are the easiest for installing tape-mounted letters. You typically need to request them if you're having the letters manufactured by others, otherwise you'll probably receive an outline pattern drawn on a paper pattern. If I get those, I cut...
  17. New Guy Sign Install Resources

And even the people that are licensed to install don't always get it right. Saw this this morning. They have parking spots blocked off but not the sidewalk. :help If Corona doesn't get you , falling signs will....
  18. New Guy Sign Install Resources

Yep. You're not going to learn what you need to from forums, videos, books, etc. You need to go work for a sign company that installs those particular signs and you need to go hands-on next to others that do it for a living. What's your current experience level?
