What was your profit on the 400 euros? Buying a roached solvent printer will be headaches. You don't print enough for a solvent machine. Honestly, the Gerber is the fit for what you are doing.

I find reds to be "fun" to hit, when I print something that has a red in it and it's not quite right I think back to a job that I printed where the red did work well and import the file and i-dropper it in, this works for vector.
raster is another story, the tinkering is more extensive...

large decals for trailers will need to be laminated, better build a shop in the backyard.
I would design the sign not to hide the breaks and then you can fasten them how you see fit. trying to hide them isn't going to work, so make them part of the sign...
