we used a regular polishing wheel for pieces larger than out laser but sanding all the edges was not fun. Once we got a router it leaves a good edge and hit it quick with a flame. To get a good clean flame you really need hydrogen and oxygen mix as it burns clean. other gasses will do it but...
We typically back them with etched vinyl on the back side of the glass. Tends to look better than white vinyl and so far where we have done it they have liked it.
When I am fixing a machine I dont want to film and and slow myself down explaining what I am doing. There are not really any documents out for Mimaki as they are very guarded with that stuff so a lot of what I have figured out is by watching techs while they are here.
Yeah that would not pass at my shop. The engraved part should be smooth and not show the lines. Red with white has to have 2 passes and usually we engrave from the bottom up so that the exhaust isn't passing over the already engraved part. Makes clean up a lot easier.
We use the perforated foam rolls from uline. We also tell the customer that once it leaves the shop we are not responsible for damage due to their handling and transport. If large sheets we let them know they will need a full size truck with nothing in the bed and something to support it since...
When I had a Mimaki JFX200 we ran it for 5 years and I think I had to purge 1-2 times. Bi Weekly is a lot and should not be needed unless you have a leak or change parts. It should be a sealed system. on our Mimaki 3042 and 6042 I think I have purged maybe 2-3 times between both printers and...
I would stay away from UV on perf, it can fill the holes. We use our latex printers for perf. I always prefer to laminate as dirt and water can fill the holes and then you cant see out of it. Lamination increases life a ton. Our shop windows have been up for 5-6 years and still looks good.
yes newer printers could have cheaper inks. As older printers get replaced and less people are buying the older ink formulations the cost will go up as they are not making as large of batches.
