  1. Need Help Colordao 1650 - Who has one and does wraps?

You could, but then you’d have to pay for the ink, heads and maintenance of three machines, not to mention trying to keep three machines colour matched which seems to be a joy on the latex machines. Not to mention, when it comes to actual print quality vs print speed I don’t think the Colorado...
  2. Puzzled by recent plasticizer migration

Try taking a look at the spec sheet for shelf life? If it’s a 1 year shelf life, and it’s been in the warehouse 6 months before it got to you, that could be it. Would also explain why it’s at the end of the roll?
  3. Print and Cut Off

What software are you running? For both RL5 and RL6 I send all jobs with crop marks. Even print and cut jobs. (Just in case). it will always print the job, read the marks then cuts. Never just prints then cuts if I have the marks on. Maybe something there going wrong?
  4. Antique clock faces

The Arizona’s with the touchstone tech might work. Some of the samples we seen were great. Printed the grain of the inside of a tree and it felt real! So if guess they’d get the texture desired
  5. Rant Have you printed that yet?

I’ve been getting a lot of customers recently that just blatantly admit to not looking at their proofs. we even have a separate sign off sheet that they need to sign and date electronically and they still don’t look at the proofs. Surely if you go through that you’d at least take a peep at the...
  6. Printhead Supplier

General rule of thumb with these companies is if it seems too good to be true. It probably is. a lot of the Indonesian companies etc tend to Get your order then disappear forever so if you do try it, make sure it’s with a credit card and/or you’re as protected from a scam as possible.
  7. Question Is my 360 a lemon, and should I buy another HP?

have you looked into UV? We’ve found it has all the positives of latex and solvent without too many negatives. as far as ink costs go, by our machines onboard calculations we run about 60p / sq m. I don’t deal with sqft often but what’s that? Roughly divide by 10? 6p/sqft. Convert that over to...
  8. Need Help Drawings

Anyone knows art can be copied, it’s all about making it as hard as possible for the customer to have something you’ve made replicated. granted we have a procedure in place where we can invoice for any works undertaken, but if someone were to create artwork without any deposit/way to get paid...
  9. Need Help Drawings

We need a print/sign request filled In including the customers invoice address before we even look at starting a job lol. No freebies here.
  10. Unique Vinyl Project - Glow In The Dark

Reflective is the much better choice but GITD is worth every penny for that 10 mins that it actually glows how you want it to.
  11. Print and Cut Off

Going by the pictures they use the crop marks for print and cut jobs (I do too, even without laminating, safest option). I think he’s saying if he just says “cut after print” then it will print, read the reg marks then cut with an offset. If they cut it off then feed it back in, works fine.
  12. Question What Equipment Do I Need for This

Screen printing is definitely the cheaper option but it’s still possible with a print and cut solution. Yes, you will also need a laminator. That is about 2.5 54” rolls worth which isn’t a huge run by any means but isn’t the smallest. I’d assume an entry level printer on a relatively low...
  13. 51" LAMINATION ON 54" VINYL?

We buy our rolls mostly 54” (1370mm) and get them cut to 1340mm, no lam overhang so we just take the laminated roll off and throw it on the summa. Saves so much time. that or someone needs to stand with a knife cutting the extra lam before it hits the take up, not as fun!
  14. looking to buy a new laminator

Budget? You could go really cheap or really expensive here lol
  15. Need Help Contra Vision

Most vinyls etc do have a shelf life, I’d probably try get a data sheet and see how you get on. we haven’t ever really noticed any issues with regards to products getting to end of shelf life other than with static cling. We usually only get about 6 months a roll before it goes bad.
  16. 3rd Party Inks

There is definitely a time and a place for third party inks. I’ve found the less time in your machine, the better. They appear to be more suited to high volume shops that are running their machines all day every day. They worked for us because we could afford to buy a new head once a year or so...
  17. Sponsorship Banners

Usually if it’s a decently well known enough company, I just do a PDF engine search and try get some corporate stuff, open em all up and hope for a vector logo somewhere lol aside from that, best to just contact the companies. we just got a huge contract for signage and one of their specs...
  18. Editing summa reg marks

I just don’t get why the default wouldn’t be the minimum possible! It is quite well hidden!
  19. Editing summa reg marks

That’s perfect! Knew it had to be somewhere, we’ve been getting by as-is on the default but this job was reaaaaaly tight. Saved just enough space to get it 4 up instead of 3! I owe you a beer! (Or half a roll of saved vinyl, whichever is easier)
  20. Editing summa reg marks

Is that in the cut server? I had a look but didn’t see anything. Got any advice for how far from the edge when I do find it? Lol
