  1. Rant acting before thinking

Visit this site http://azglassclasses.com/portal/ and take a look around at some of the jaw-dropping projects done with the assistance of a plotter. Here's direct link to the member photo gallery http://azglassclasses.com/Gallery/ If you can scrounge up a modest sandblast cabinet, there's a...
  2. Rant acting before thinking

Let me be the first to break the high-tech trend, but long live the 90s! I'm running a 1992 Gerber GS and it cranks out monument stencil like an overly fertile cash cow. At the moment, I have almost two-thousand sandblast stencils ready to go on paving bricks, and the fun is just getting...
  3. And behind the sign waaaasssssssssss what?

Carburetor and choke cleaner beats any bug spray, hands down, every time...period.
  4. Wazer

I hope it works for you... In all honesty, I'm left wondering why the Chinese haven't pulled off something like that by now. Anyway, keep us posted.
  5. Wazer

I used to work as a design engineer for an AWJ cutting facility, and I've seen plenty of the big machines in action. I'm more than skeptical here. Read the reviews...there's more than a fair amount of concern...and for good reason. Waterjet machines basically "eat" themselves to death. And...
  6. Beginner question on down cutters

I'm going to take a wild guess and mention the word "burr"...those ragged little overhangs at the edge of anything you cut. Is that what you mean? If so, they can never be eliminated using a milling/router cutter. They can only reduced by taking a light finish cut.
  7. What software do you use to manage your business?

Being a one-man-show, we just moved up from Excel spread sheets and a filing cabinet to Workflow Max by Xero. It doesn't sound like it would do what you need, but for other small-timers who need a simple, easy to learn system, it might be a good fit. It only integrates with Xero's accounting...
  8. Monument font

You may be able to get a close match by applying an outline/inline. The Albertus I have in Omega has slightly different terminals, as noted earlier.
  9. True Confession

Yep, mom's old Filter Queen never sounded better then when we were humming tunes through the wand and the hose. But if my memory serves me correctly, it sure smelled nasty. Ha...ha....ha. 23andMe is sure to get some new traffic from this thread!
  10. True Confession

It does add a new layer of culture to my upbringing. Kookaburra....the laughing jackass...what'll they think of next?
  11. True Confession

Well...for maybe about 3 seconds I can sound "authentic". These guys have iron lungs and a circular breathing technique that would put most instrumentalists to shame.

  13. True Confession

Last one....and perhaps one of the best displays of talent on YouTube.
  14. True Confession

If Jimi Hendrix had a Didgeridoo:
  15. True Confession

Oh, the hazards of wireless broadband out in the boonies. Never could waste that much time when I had DSL. Real work beckons...
  16. True Confession

Ok...so I upped the ante and went out to the shop and got a piece of 1-1/4 pvc electrical conduit with the flared end...holy smokes...now we're talkin'. That thing could call in a pack of dingos in a heartbeat.
  17. True Confession

Today, I made a Didgeridoo from three vinyl cores, and it really sounds authentic. Anybody have a cold Foster's I could borrow? For the uninitiated:
  18. Suggestions Sign Shop Organization

Gino...I'm assuming your FSS is the same as my PhD (piled higher & deeper) Anyway, in keeping with the subject, I found a set of these Shop Floor Series manuals at a local Goodwill for next to nothing. Even at retail cost, they're worth every penny as you (OP) move toward efficiency. They are...
  19. Suggestions Sign Shop Organization

Let me politely say that you may be starting at the "wrong end" of the problem. Map out your processes and the flow of work through your shop, and take a hard look at how and where materials are used. Just exactly where and how is value created or added in your shop? What are the actual...
