Depending on what is wrong with your router it may be able to be rebuilt. The only difference between the the one that comes with it and the standard one is that it has a longer shaft at the bottom. It works fine you just need to be careful with deeper cuts.

You don't need to add material thickness to z height if you set it at a .25" it goes .25" above the material. Are you new to machine did it work before? I did use one before that stayed at .25" and I couldn't change it, never figured out why.

I'm assuming you plan on doing commercial work with the printer do you have any design experience? We are mostly a commercial shop with occasional work on personal vehicles, roofs , stripes etc.. In my opinion while they seem similar they are very different.
