I would never do data merge for making signs like house numbers. Lay those out individually. I only use data merge for things like parking permits or tickets which have to be numbered. Centering or left aligned comes out fine, particularly since they tend to be 3 or 4 digit numbers or more.

Page 4 of that guide: Print Label is located under Custom (Sewing/Folding). Print Labels contain information about the print job. The information printed can be customized. Click Enable and then Setup to customize what Print Labels will output.

Anyone who does signs should become familiar with the basic fonts. Swiss 721 is basically a knockoff of Helvetica that comes with Corel Draw. You should become familiar with it and a couple of dozen other common fonts. It will save you a lot of time. Learn to recognize the quirks of those fonts'...
