  1. Deer

I went to Gatorland in Orlando years ago and the guy there was getting a Cottonmouth to break balloons on a stick. He told the crowd that it was the most venomous snake in the world which is utter B/S. I felt like telling him that the Eastern Taipan in Australia would have it for a quick snack...
  2. Deer

Aussie snakes would eat your snakes for breakfast!!:ROFLMAO:
  3. Graphic design V sign design???

My pride would not let me accept the job, and I would let it slide rather than have them say I did it when someone said it looked atrocious! The going thing is that an upset client will tell 100 people who did it, but a happy customer will tell only 10?? And the answer to your other question is...
  4. Police Cruiser Decals -- Last Laugh

hahahahahaha, Way too funny, but they also forgot to put some wings on him too.
  5. Graphic design V sign design???

OK, most people agree that the "sign" or maybe design is not doing what it is supposed to be doing. Maybe some clipart of ladders chainsaws tools, etc may help but as it is, it is just a big pretty mass of shapes and colors gone wrong. If the people who read SignCraft would study the articles by...

  7. Graphic design V sign design???

I finally got around to photographing this "signage" this morning even though it was raining. I almost vomit every time I go past this crap. Did the "designer" have any special effects buttons left over after he/she produced this rubbish? Check the tryout at prizmatizing the main copy, to say...
  8. Corel vs Signlab

I have been using SignLab since when it was called Cadlink. I went as far as version 5 which is where I am at now and have decided it will do me now until I retire. It has never let me down or caused any problems. I also use VMP (Vinyl Master Pro) in an earlier version and between them both I...
  9. New Logo For Customer

Jill, this is the "signwriter" in you and not the "Graphic Designer" that always makes so much sense here. I think it is time that signs were just that and not a lot of special effects because pushing computer buttons will do the trick in making a million dollar logo and sign that nobody can...
  10. Happy B'day

:toasting: Many happy returns Curt from liddy and I. I'll raise a glass to you right now as it is Australia Day here!!:Australia
  11. It's come to this. Drumming up business

That's good news that something good has come out of it. I love the sign you made and good luck for the future and be paid what you are worth.:rock-n-roll:
  12. Graphtec Blades in Aus.?

Ross at CleanCut Blades is the best you can get. His are even better than Graphtec and they just don't wear out. PM me and I will give you details. I have been using them for years and you would not find a nicer guy. I know him personally and met him.
  13. Paint Brushes?

Vaseline may also be used if they are being used often. Neatsfoot oil is also very good as it is thin and penetrates the stock. I store mine in a block of styrene foam. I poke the handle into it with the bristles at the top. After use rub the bristle between your finger and thumb To "shape" it...
  14. Whose going??

Unfortunately I won't be going this year, but unless Days Inn has had a makeover, don't anyone stay there. It was the filthiest stinky place I have ever seen, and the carpet was wet all the time!
  15. What, exactly, makes sign people qualified to design anything?

And then along comes a potential customer that has his new business card in his hand with the logo that the printer "designed". Argghhhh!!!!! I know I am not a graphic designer but really I wish some people would come to me first and then go to the printer.
  16. Ever taken a job that..

You mean the guy who brings his wife in with him and her Microsoft "nephew art"?? She is such a great "graphic designer" that what she has dreamed up must be adhered to at all costs?? YES we all have them. I had one just this week.

  18. What to do when a long time customer uses a competitor

Your customer is only your customer whilst you are working for them. Don't go asking what went wrong and NEVER bag your opposition. If you were supplying quality work and your opposition was giving them garbage they will come back, and don't try sticking it up them. Say nothing and and continue...
  19. Bringing back the NHB

Well, I must admit I did enjoy the politics. It gave me a great insight as how differently things are performed in America compared to Australia concerning all your primaries etc... I am still totally confused! lol
  20. It's come to this. Drumming up business

?? So what you are saying is that if work slows down you just say some prayers and hey presto the phone starts ringing again? That sounds selfish to me.
