  1. Hardware for mounting signs to round pole

Harbor Sales in Maryland. Just got 20 kits in for a job this morning. https://harborsales.net/
  2. Customers Not Planning Ahead is Costing Me $$$

My best suggestion is to ask yourself why you are not keeping the needed substrate in stock... clearly a percentage of the issue is time for material acquisition, so money invested into inventory positively drives bottomline and can mitigate some stress. We always keep some vinyls and substrate...
  3. Seeking pantone-matched acrylic

Professional Plastics offers a Pantone color chart with plexiglass matches - www.professionalplastics.com ePlastics offers a color matching chart www.eplastics.com and signumlux.com And you can always use clear and paint the backside, coat with vinyl, etc... Hope that helps somewhat. I would...
  4. Condiment LDPE squeeze bottles

    Yes, white
  5. Print in printer plot in cutter

In Flexi create labels and set up with your repeats such that you are less than 2-3 inches of maximum print on your vinyl. Set up your contour cuts. Select all, and the ContourCutMarks button should become available in your tool bar - looks like a set of crop marks with dashed box and green...
  6. Its amazing the question has not been asked that I can see. How do you get rid or disposed of a large Flatbed Printer?

eBay, Craigslist, or Global Garage (a site only for large format printers).
  7. Vinyl Cutter Size

FWIW, the Graphtec FC9000-140 is their 54" plotter and can take rolls up 60.19" wide (better get them in straight...) and cuts up to 54" using their new ARMS registration system. The FC9000-160 is about $900 more and cuts up to 64". So, maybe they would let you upgrade or maybe there is a...
  8. Hot or Cold Laminator

We use a cold Laminator and no regrets. We had a hot previously, worked great once you honed in the correct settings but also wasted more material with each run. Silvering usually disappears in a day or so, a few hours in the sun does wonder for it to. We've only ever had one customer concerned...
  9. Condiment LDPE squeeze bottles

Roland Soljet XR640 with Ecosolv inks (MacTac is printable with almost any ink system). We use the Matte Calendared profile.
  10. Condiment LDPE squeeze bottles

We use MacTac Rebel528H High Tack for things like this. Great product, sticks to most flat surfaces.
  11. Just bought a Graphtec FC9000, Cannot get it to function properly

We setup the printed marks in Flexi using the Contour Cut Mark button (green center, shows 4 crop marks and a dotted pattern), choosing Graphtec 4 Type 1 (or 2) marks, and sending the cut via the Cut Contour button (shows as a plotter blade over a burgundy rectangle), which sends it to Flexi...
  12. Permit or pass?

Not weighing in on the rest, but FWIW towns are incorporated... thus technically a business with limited liability (the sole purpose of incorporation is to limit liability, whether you are a business or a town). Few in any form of government or government agency see themselves as serving the...
  13. Window perf lifting in corners... solutions?

That is a five year calendared intermediate vinyl. Full sun plus lots of black printing equals high temperature which challenges both the vinyl and the adhesive. Calendared films are created using beads of plastic - the elastic memory of the material is such that it wants return to is original...
  14. How to Enlarge shutterstock images for large wall murals

There are some nice online programs that will let you do a few pictures for free to test. These will allow you to upscale and then remove pixelation. Lets Enhance https://letsenhance.io/ PetaPixel https://petapixel.com/2017/10/31/website-uses-ai-enhance-photo-csi-style/
  15. Subcontracting Question

If they don't have an installer, don't want to hire someone that can install easy stuff (and do assembly on other signs), current subcontractor is declining, I would suggest maybe there is an interpersonal issue... aka they can't keep anyone. i mean, if you have someone to make banners, magnets...
  16. Sea can/trailer Wrap

Print a large square on intermediate or removable vinyl, apply to trailer, measure to see how much going over the ribs changed dimensions, count number of ribs covered with square, do the math and figure out how much each rib takes away from dimension, stretch text and image according to this...
  17. Hard time getting vinyl over to transfer paper

We definitely need more details to give you the right answer. But if the vinyl is an etch, you need the right transfer mask material as not all stick to some of the etch options. Example, we stock high tack application tape, but frosted sparkle etch vinyl needs 3M prespacing tape (or equivalent).
  18. Blended Gross Profit Margins

Fascinating conversation. Not sure what the original point of this thread was - how to price product, or how to check profitability? I worked for one of the sign franchises at a corporate owned store many years ago. We always had a basic rule that helped frame cost of a product: 25% material...
  19. Suggestions Best solutions to removing old vinyl

We end up removing a lot of Intermediate vinyl that our competitors have used - cracks when it gets old. But the worst vinyl to remove, ever, is old burgandy. That stuff is super thin and breaks easily. We use hot air guns, MBX stripper wheels, and sometimes a steamer. Rapid Remover and Alcohol...
