  1. Material ID

That looks like .030 polycarbonate. Most often we use PET banner material which is a "rigid" banner that is still flexible enough to be rolled up. Usually UV flatbed print, sometimes laminate, and velcro it onto such a frame. Hope that helps
  2. Making Videos

FYI - Edison stole much of his solutions to his challenges from a talented young scientist to whom he promised many financial returns and to which he never delivered. That young man was the creator of AC voltage - Nickola Tesla. Edison electrocuted an Elephant with AC to try and prove how...
  3. Suggestions Best mid-level flatbed printer?

We have a new FluidColor with gen 6 Ricoh heads and wow! Speed and resolution are awesome. It is available with Kyocera heads as an option if you want, but from what I understand only advantage would be if you do museum work. We print large format down to nametags with ours and are completely...
  4. Force Majeure: Yet another Corrugated Plastic Increase (Coroplast)

Excellent example. I would never stock up on materials we do not use. That said, our business depends on the materials we use - last year we ran into shortages on 54" Oracal vinyl, had to struggle to find it to continue doing business; paid higher prices and had a few times almost ran out. Now...
  5. Wall Graphics vinyl...

One thing to find out before installing wall graphics is if it has been over 30 days since the wall was last painted. Many failures happen when you letter a wall shortly after it was painted - surface may be dry, but it usually takes 30 days to fully cure.
  6. Can someone tell me where I can buy this reflective vinyl

That looks like 3M 680 Series ScotchLite Lemon Yellow 81 printed with black then laminated (or Gerber UV Guard lamination) with clear. Grimco carries this in stock 2-4 days to get to you...
  7. Installer needed in DC

We do that. Have three jobs to do down in DC soon. If you still need help, give us a call: Sign Here, Hagerstown MD
  8. Well, it's finally happening...

Trailers are not that bad. I say go for it. I use Oraguard 3951RA everyday, but for this I would turn to Arlon SLX Cast Wrap with Arlon 3270 laminate - less expensive and way more forgiving. You can get it through Fellers. As to the trailer, We would take off the door latches to make install...
  9. Failing Graphics

Printed calendared vinyl wants to return to flat - post form heating is not as effective as it is for cast wrap vinyl - add in that temperature drop and... A good example of why we always use Arlon SLX Cast Wrap or Oracal 3951 Rapid Air - such failures can hurt your reputation (plus cast =...
  10. GHOST WrapGlove

We use Yellow WrapGloves and love them. They are also slick, though I don't know if as slick as Ghost but don't use one to lean against a vehicle as you will slide... They tend to outlast Paint is Dead. That is about all I have that is useful on the subject
  11. Vinyl Posters Cold Weather Install on Windows

We keep the vinyl warm until the moment it is installed. We have used Rapid Tac II and like it. Heat to set it in some cases - but be careful as heat will draw moisture (like when used to heat surface. Our best results using heat to prep a surface have come from heating the back side. FWIW...
  12. Need Help RF640 cian issues

Sounds like air. But if you bought it in November, it should still be under warranty - call your rep and have them correct the issue
  13. Outdoor Digital Media

We use 3551 all the time for decals, but always use 3951 and Arlon SLX Cast Wrap for wraps. The 3551 is a good material, prints well, consistent. We prefer the longer life of the 3951... paired with the proper laminate (290 or Arlon 3270).
  14. Re-positioning acrylic pin-mounted letters

MikePro answered it. One tip, if you don't have a pen for your plotter get a Sharpie Twin Tip and use some masking tape to make the outside of it the right thickness for your plotter to hold it (centered), then send a cut to the plotter and it will trace the pattern.
  15. Thick Striping on Truck

Other than improving skill with a heat gun (a must in this business) or with knifeless tape, you can apply vinyl over vinyl with air egress (like Arlon Cast Wrap or Oracal 3951 Rapid Air) to gain flexibility. We have used this on Fire Trucks and Emergency Vehicles to get reflective to follow...
  16. Suggestions application table suggestions

We have a CWT and really like it.
  17. Suggestion for cut vinyl wall lettering

You've already gotten plenty of good advice on the vinyl, but one thing to find out from your client is when was the wall painted. Latex paint is not fully cured until it is 30 days or more old. If something was painted within that time frame, the likelihood of vinyl failure is higher.
  18. Ugh....WHY!?!?!

have you considered taking to a work area and using your air compessor to blow the worst off before taking them back to your assembly area
  19. Noob from uk

As far as excellent plotters, both Graphtec and Summa are excellent and you can print on the Roland and cut on these. As far as printing, we have a Roland XR640 and it is a really excellent printer - reliable, high quality, trouble free, economical inks. The XR640 is not the best cutter of...
