  1. Please tell me about the HP 335 and 365

We have a Graphtec FC9000-160 and love it - just a typical Graphtec workhorse. Price was so much better than the Summa too - though Summa makes a really nice unit, so you can't much go wrong with either choice.
  2. Discussion Replacing our CET Flatbed - Price Suggestions Welcome

Agree on the heads! Price was running around 100k USD - varies according to the exact head setup you go with - we did one row of CMYK plus white, you can do two rows for even more speed. Basic frame is HandTop, which I believe same as StratoJet as well as CET and others.
  3. Discussion Replacing our CET Flatbed - Price Suggestions Welcome

New printer runs about twice the speed of our old printer comparing production quality on new to draft quality (fastest speed, for coro) on old. Runs even faster draft to draft. New machine produces higher resolution and small text, 6pt or 4pt, print excellent. Reproduces grays very well. White...
  4. Looking for CHEAP printable vinyl

I have to agree with an above post - I don't like to use Cheap materials as in the end we have to stand behind them or lose our reputation. That said, using a good brand, find the vinyl that matches best for the application and price accordingly. If you don't get that job, don't sweat it as...
  5. Opinion Mojave/Nekoosa Vinyl

If it was a wrap vinyl, then I must ask if you post form heated it. Many wrap vinyls have grooves to release air and adhesive that is light initial tack; these often require heat to fully activate the adhesive and to allow it to permanently cling to contours (otherwise the vinyl tries to return...
  6. Discussion Replacing our CET Flatbed - Price Suggestions Welcome

We went with the Fluid Color with the Ricoh Gen6 heads. Installation was this week and we are pleased with the quality and the speed
  7. How to handle previous owner's mistakes

From the photos, it looks like he used the wrong lamination for the vinyl. May have used a 2 year vinyl. In any event, the question here is really about how you define your business and what reputation you want for it. Personally, I would redo the horses - no charge. The customer will remember...
  8. FC9000 Cut registration

Graphtec FC9000 should be a fairly new machine. The 4 pinch rollers (ours is a 60") each have three settings of pressure, adjustable by pressing the lever on each at the back of the machine. If your vinyl is off-tracking, most likely not all levers are all the way down.
  9. PNC-1000 SERVICE manual here

You can download a copy of the user manual here: http://indivisiblesomerville.org/roland_camm_1_pnc_1100_manual.pdf Also, here is Roland's site with some good information: https://www.rolanddga.com/support/products/cutting/camm-1-pnc-1100-24-vinyl-cutter
  10. Suggestions Thick sticker vinyl

We use Orafol: 3551RA is a Rapid Air, air egress but is only 2.75mil without lamination. 3258 is a 6mil without the air egress, and 3164RA is a air egress that is 4mil.
  11. Summa vs Graphtec vs Roland

We were torn between the Summa and the Graphtec FC9000 - went with the Graphtec and never looked back. It is fast and accurate, reliable, and price was significantly less than the Summa. We heard that Summa are a bit more temperamental. We had a Roland 30" plotter at one time. When it broke down...
  12. Question What is the value - CET printer

What is the value of late 2012 CET Flatbed printer 4x8 CMYK plus W? Trying to figure what its current value might be - I believe they went for $150k when new. Thanks
  13. Discussion Replacing our CET Flatbed - Price Suggestions Welcome

We are replacing our 2012 (received January 2013) CET X-Press QX 4x8 Flatbed Printer. It has one row of heads CMYK plus White. White is not working, but otherwise printer is used most days. We have records of all issues and maintenance. Should be a good value for someone looking to add such...
  14. Fletcher Substrate Cutter

Comfortable height so you don't need to stoop. Good for 48" material, a bit lower would be better for 60" material.
  15. Fletcher Substrate Cutter

We have ours mounted so that bottom of material is sitting about 30" above the floor - wouldn't go any higher. We use it almost every day. Love to flatbed print 4x8 sheets of coro and trim down to 10x 18x24s - fast and easy. We use it on polystyrene, komatex and foamcore too. Enjoy
  16. Discussion Looking to Sell 2012 CET Xpress Q Series

We have made a decision to sell our 2012 CET Xpress Q Series flatbed printer. The unit was purchased new at the beginning of 2013 and we have records of maintenance and repairs going back to that time. The unit is still used regularly according to job needs (we run it several times a week). It...
  17. Discussion What's your shop's typical day like in terms of shop efficiency?

We have one weekly meeting, which includes installers, designers and production. First thing I do each morning is pull all the job tickets and group everything together by machine in order of due date. Typically, in production we try to work ahead. Doesn't sound like much, but once you are...
  18. CET White Ink Issues

Need Help. We replaced our original white Ink head several months ago as we lost many nozzles and it was banding badly. New head printed well at first, but then suddenly only the middle half printed during test prints. Now we have nothing printing and ink does not come out when priming. We have...
  19. Ink not adhering to panels

Thanks for the response. The ink should be cured instantly but it's worth a shot I guess just to see. Have you used any specific adhesion promoters that you could recommend? Specifically for aluminum and komacel PVC?
  20. Ink not adhering to panels

CET Color 500Q flatbed with Gen 4 Ricoh heads Vanguard VDRG4 ink set I was thinking an adhesion promoter would help.
