Well said! Price, quality, service...choose any two.
  2. Where did these blanks come from?

Get to know your local laser cutting / waterjet cutting source. You can buy aluminum sheet stock in 4 x 8 or 4 x 12. All you have to do is ine 'em up...and let 'em rip. Most sign design programs already have template files. JB
  3. Fine Art of Penmanship

Geee...I think my jaw is somewhere here under my desk...still trying to find it. Thanks, JB
  4. Any idea what ugly font is used here?

Looks like a four-way blend of Nuptual, Pepita, President and Lucidia Hand....wow. JB
  5. Kickstarter campaign to fund a sign painters manual

  8. Omega & SignLab Dongle Conflicts?

Update to this thread I'm adding the content below that was originally posted on another thread earlier this week. NEW CONTENT added 1-19-13: I found no dongle conflicts between SignLab 8 and Omega 5 running on Win 7. I just got a copy of Omega 5 LS today and ran it through some extensive...
  9. Omega dongle

Not unless you can find one from somebody. Be careful...those older versions of Omega will not work with Windows 7. JB
  10. Omega 5...lovin' it

Plus I got a bunch of new fonts, with additional options for more...way cool. JB
  11. Omega 5...lovin' it

Just got a copy of Omega 5 LS today and ran it through the paces with Adobe Illustrator CS5, SignLab 8 and AutoCAD 2000i. Since we do monument sandblasting, we mainly do line art and a lot of text. Overall, the files interact well with other in .ai, .eps, .dwg and .dxf formats...
  12. Adobe Acrobat?

Way better than those "cute" knockoffs, it's the best thing going. We use it for customer proofs and archiving everything like work orders, invoices, check (payment) scans, bank statements and a gazillion other things. I wouldn't want to be without it. If you email any sort of document to...
  13. Clamps

Men and their clamps...women and their shoes...there can never be enough. JB
  14. Where to sell design program

I cut my teeth on that program designing hot stamping dies...humble beginnings for sure, but it worked well for b/w camera ready artwork. JB
  15. it's the final countdown: Chantix and the New Year

Just an affirming word of encouragement to those who are still in the transition. My addiction of choice is / was Coke, Pepsi and Starbucks French Roast (rich, black & strong). Jan 1, I gave up on the pop and one week ago I let go of the coffee. I feel amazingly better, but there's always...
  16. Damn that fly is back

Take a close look...it's not the same thing. The one I showed only has one layer of wires. The offending fly only has to touch two adjacent wires and he's zapped. The one in your link is comprised of three layers of wires. The fly needs to go in between one outer layer and the center...
  17. Damn that fly is back

This'll "salt" his arse just fine...and make you wish he had a few buddys as well.. http://www.bestqualitytoys.com/Low-Powered-Electric-Fly-Swatter-High-Quality-p-21237.html JB
  18. Damn that fly is back

I now use one of those electronic flyswatters that looks like a tennis racquet. They work awesomely well. In most cases, I only have to hold it up in the vicinity of the fly...and he hits it head-on with an ever so pleasing "snap" of electricity. JB
  19. Want to sandblast signs

I believe that's your job. You send them the cut file, they stencil and blast and ship it to you. You do the painting and finish work. We do our own sandblasting, but our specialty is cemetery monuments, rocks and bricks. JB
  20. Want to sandblast signs

You'll want a rotary screw compressor. Sandblasters are real air hogs and your two-stage won't be able to keep up. In the meanwhile, you can outsource much of that work and mess and just do the design and sales of sandblasted signs. JB
