Magic introduced a solvent printable wrapping paper in 2016. They discontinued it last year and have introduced an aqueous printable wrapping paper. I think that probably says solvent wrapping paper didn't work.
I don't have that model of printer, but given our experience with running stiff/thick materials through our cutter, you might try rigging up a flat output surface so that the print feeds out either level or slightly uphill.
I wouldn't consider 5'x6' to be a large banner. We do those in-house. Although your customer may think the banner will be a long term sign, it isn't. Even screwed to a rigid surface like this one will be, it will fade in a year or two.
The one thing nobody ever seems to include in the calculation is a pro-rating of the purchase cost of the printer and an average of 1-2 service/repair charges and a printhead a year or two, and the overhead cost of having a building and the people you pay and the insurance you buy....
