  1. Corel Colors Changing

I think I might have figured it out. In the color management screen the color space your working in has to match the advanced import/export color space for importing (double click the stack of documents). I guess when I was pasting it was acting as an import from a different colorspace and it...
  2. Corel Colors Changing

I'm running corel 13 and anytime I fill an object using RGB values the colors change when I cut and paste a copy. It also changes after I save and re-open the file. For example I can make a blue box 50,50,200 cut and paste and it changes to 53,53,200. Does anybody else notice this? Is there a fix?
  3. Flexi, SCSI and Vista

So I'm running flexi 8.5 on windows xp and my motherboard goes out. My Seiko printer is connected using an Adaptec SCSI card. I'm trying to transfer the program and printer to a Vista machine but can't seem to get the computer to notice the printer. Vista has drivers for the card so I don't...
  4. Too Much Black?

When I print small black text on my Seiko I print in unidirectional mode. Seems to eliminate any left pass - right pass alignment issues. Also I turn off color management on the black. That makes the printer only use black ink to print black and not 4-color. Also I get less overspray when the...
  5. Another Back-up Hardware Question

I've never used one but I heard the Drobo is a good solution. It has four hard drive bays that can hold a TB each. If a hard drive fails you just pull it out and replace with a new one. All the data will be replaced from the other drives. It's a bit pricey though.
  6. Flexi Take Forevor

The jpg is 114MB but what's the uncompressed size? Sounds like you're image is about 600 dpi making it actually a 7Gig file and killing your computer. Try resampling down to 72-120 dpi. Should reduce the file to a couple hundred MB and ease the strain on your computer.
  7. Upgrading from 8.1 to 8.5

Do 8.1 profiles have to be converted from legacy format through the color profiler or just imported from the file menu?
  8. Upgrading from 8.1 to 8.5

I think I got it. I had to go to Install Manager and enter a password. (number on box) and then I got to the registration and dongle deactivation screens. My bad.
  9. Upgrading from 8.1 to 8.5

So I just received my 8.5 disks. Backed up my profiles, went through the install process and after it finished I don't see the program anywhere nor did any registration screen come up. Am I supposed to remove 8.1 first? Remove the dongle first? I see a SAI folder in the the Program files but...
  10. black/green print

A couple of things you may try in Flexi: Rip the file, then open it in Production Manager. Go to the curves tab and push the magenta curve up a little. That should neutralize the green a little. Make sure the preview box is checked so you can see the changes in window. Or you can print without...
  11. reds are pink

I usually use a pure RGB red and then go to rendering intent-pure hue and check the red box. Makes a great red with my Seiko. I'm not sure how it will do on non-spot colors. You can also try the saturation or spot color rendering intents and see how those do.
  12. Working with PSD, CDR, EPS on flexi

There's a pretty good demo of flexi 8 on givemehelp.com, I think it shows what you are looking for. It's about 20-30 minutes though but has a lot of useful tips. You should be able to import the photoshop file directly into flexi. Select the image and go to Bitmaps-Make transparent. With that...
  13. Flexi Adjustment Tab Help

I was wondering if anyone knows how to preview any changes made in the adjustment tab in the RIP/Print section of Flexi 8. The manual says to check the preview box but I don't see it anywhere. Right now I have to make a curve adjustment and then print it to see how it changes the image.
  14. Anyone know what make and model?

Looks like a mutoh rj6000 printer. We have one similar that signwarehouse used to sell but they called it a PrismJet. Uses aqueous dye or pigment inks. Good resolution but slow.
  15. WAY too much ink!

I don't know about the Mutoh, but on my Seiko if the heat gets accidentally turn off the prints look like they have too much ink (a runny mess). Maybe check the heat.
  16. PDF file help

I don't know about version 8 but in version 7 Professional you can go to File,Save As, File Type eps and alter the settings. That's strange that version 8 wouldn't have this option.
  17. PDF file help

You can save the file as an eps file with the option convert fonts to outlines. This works most of the times. Make sure the eps looks like the original pdf before doing anything because sometimes the eps loses the transparencies, gradients, color space, etc.
  18. FlexiSign 8 - PDF Import Problems

I have the same problem. I usually open the pdf in Acrobat Professional and save as a 150 - 300 dpi RGB TIFF and print that. I like opening in Acrobat because most customers are looking at the file in Reader or Acrobat and this method seems to match the colors they are seeing more accurately. I...
  19. which RIP do you use ?

I used to use Wasatch 5.14 but recently switched to Flexi 8. I like them both but I can create my own profiles with Flexi and an X-Rite Spectrophotometer. With Wasatch I needed more software to do that. Some of the factory profiles just didn't seem right and I hated tweaking them. Now I can...
  20. Changing opacity of a pic in X3

If you want the background lighter you can add a transparency lens on top of the image. If you want the background to show through something behind it use the interactive tranparency tool on the tool bar. From there you can apply gradient transparencies as well as uniform transparencies to your...
