check out Vsign. We have been using it for about 2 years now. It was made by a sign guy so it has materials, rolls sizes and what not built in. just set your prices, overhead and whatnot and it will give you your cost, material usage and a list of percentage markups. Has a job calendar...
I agree, we had the exact same issue and after looking at the head usage we realized that 2 of our heads were past due for a change. Changed them out and it printed perfectly.
This just requires careful installation. We have done graphics on glass like this before. if you can use vinyl with air egress you're laughing, if not you just need to slowly apply over the crest of the bump from top to bottom and then incrementally jam the vinyl into the valley moving down the...
Beware of using Phototex on textured pillars. We tried it and it wouldn't stick. Just couldn't grab enough and floated on top of the surface. Being that pillars are never perfect cylinders this caused problems as it would lift in a lot of places and look really bad. The product and technique of...
One reason for vinyl not sticking to walls is low-VOC paint. We have been having issues with it more and more as the paint industry goes "environmentally friendly". We have even had ij40 come up on the edges and wall vinyl like mpi2611 will fall right off as you walk out the door. Always good to...
We get everything in writing. Account managers are not allowed to proceed with work unless we get a written approval. We have pics of all of the completed graphics.
I think our 1st line of attack is going to be contacting headquarters and making sure the local owner knows that we have...
We have all their guidelines and everything is installed correctly. I tried finding OTF's corporate contact info but they seem to want to direct you elsewhere. I figured that was my best bet on getting paid was talking to the big guns and letting them know their franchise is making them look bad.
I started taking deposits on every job for every customer besides our largest 5 or 10 a couple years ago. It has cut our delinquent receivables in more than half. The issues we still have seem to be with collecting the remaining balance on install jobs.
Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. The job started out as a wall graphics and then just kept growing. If i would have know it was getting that big I would have told my account manager to get some cash.
What about the onsite collection question though? What do you do in regards to that Gino?
We recently put up $5000 worth of interior wall and window graphics @ Orange theory fitness in Saskatoon, Canada. They were happy with everything but have decided to just ignore our attempts to get paid. And yes I know, we should have gotten a deposit on the job, which we usually do. Long story...
Backblaze is an offsite backup service. It costs $45 a year for unlimited storage from 1 computer (server). You can download individual files if you need to access something and it keeps a copy of any file you make changes to for 30 days. Has an app for your phone as well so you can access...
We have and always will use 3m's prespace tape. We have low, medium and hi-tack rolls. I find that it has a little give to it. If you run into issues applying you can actually manipulate the vinyl with the mask on. With other brands its a lot more rigid.....almost like a paper.
We use paint mask for the most part. Comes off walls easily. I find its a pain in the ass, and unnecessary to cut out the full text. I also usually take out any of the insides of o's and whatnot. When you're installing 3/8" acrylic letters or anything thick it can get difficult to get at the...
Do they have security film or a laminate on that glass? Those marks around the graphics might be residue left from application fluid getting caught around the edge of those decals when it was put on.
The customer trying to scrape it off and you trying to scrape it off are 2 different things sometimes. grab a wide scraper and big blade and put some elbow grease into it.
I believe letterman7 is correct.... The liquid edge sealant can be a real pain in the ass to get off sometimes. I...
I have a project that has print-cut frosted vinyl that has large open spaces so you can see through the window but also has pieces cut out of the main frosted part as well. I have laminated with optically clear to protect the print as cleaners may try to clean it. My problem is that I can't wet...
V sign software. It manages everything for us and you can integrate it with qb if you want and invoice directly from there. Check it out. It's made by a guy who has a sign company that got frustrated with his other options and made the software. I think you can get a trial.
We use software called Vsign. It allows us to estimate with costing, send proposals and get acceptance, Schedule your jobs and track production time, invoice and sync right up with QB. You can also store all production files, proofs and designs on their servers if you want and it will be right...
