  1. Just wanted to say thanks.....

    Ok....you're forgiven.... Jim
  2. Tools to remove "security Fasteners"

"Security fasteners"....hmmmm. Kinda like going downtown and geting a key to the neighbor's house...right off the shelf. Who woulda thunk? JB
  3. Just wanted to say thanks.....

Barry... Again, my friend, you're most welcome...but I thought we agreed on no fanfare. God Bless, Jim
  4. My wife just showed this to me ....

Dang! Do a Google search on "Brackfas" and see what you get. Looks like a viral campaign to me....perhaps it's intentional. JB
  5. Referral Programs - what works?

Satisfied customers have been my best sources of referrals...word of mouth gets about the best mileage of any marketing campaign. JB
  6. Font Spacing

I use SignLab and sometimes the auto kerning, or text compression gets turned on and causes headaches. Sounds like Mike is on the right track. Jim
  7. Prayers for a friend of the family

    +1 I'm praying.
  8. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

Put it on a business card with absolutely nothing else. Curiosity will get the best of people. JB
  9. QR Code Verification...Need Assistance

The polished granite QR code would look just like a printed piece of paper: the black squares would be masked, the white areas (gray on granite) would get etched.
  10. QR Code Verification...Need Assistance

Yep...I plan to make a fairly wide border around it so only the image will scan. Anything smaller than a 3 inch square would be tough to weed. I mentioned the code generator on a previous link. It allows you to export the code to an .eps file...the sky's the limit. Here's the link...
  11. QR Code Verification...Need Assistance

The image is burned into photo resist film with UV (similar to making silk screens), applied to the granite and then sandblasted with 180 grit aluminum oxide. When etched, the black granite turns light gray. I'll post photos when it's done.
  12. QR Code Verification...Need Assistance

    Hey...I'm getting there...one step at a time.
  13. QR Code Verification...Need Assistance

Thank you to you both! I'm kinda impressed by this cool new stuff. I plan to etch this on jet black granite and put it on display in my retailer's showroom. Jim
  14. QR Code Verification...Need Assistance

I saw an earlier post about creating a QR code for my website and I found a code generator that outputs in vector format...very cool with lots of possibilities. The only problem is I don't have one of those fancy gadgets that can read a QR code. Could someone please read this code and PM me...
  15. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

I found this one that lets you make QR codes in .eps files...very interesting. http://keremerkan.net/qr-code-and-2d-code-generator/ Jim
  16. QR Codes in the Sign Biz

Cool, but now how do I make one? I've found a few code generating sites out there but I'm not sure if they'll take my information and give me a bunch of spam later on. Since I do stone engraving, I'd like to etch one in jet black granite and put it on display in a local retailer's showroom...
  17. WEED THIS! Show us some intricate vinyl work

Cool...but I think GG has you beat as far as "microscopicity" goes. JB
  18. The best 100 ways to tell a customer you're not interested

Quote them a very long lead time with 100% due at the time of order. I think sending them to a competetor is the best idea. JB
  19. AI CS5...What went missing here?

I had it on my old computer and everything worked fine. I may try to re-load it again. Since it's a new hard drive, it gave me an error when registering with my original serial number. I looks as though I may have to email Adobe and request a new number for this. JB
  20. AI CS5...What went missing here?

My computer tanked last weekend and I just loaded my CS5 on a new system. I'm still using Windows XP, but for some reason I see two buttons that are completely missing. Instead of the buttons, you can actually "see through" the Illy window onto the desktop background. I've numbered the...
