We have dialed all the speeds down, we are trying some other things here in a bit this morning.
We could do a double cut, but with the accuracy issue, I wouldn't trust where my 2nd cut would end up.
This is where we get Substance. It is great thick and durable stuff. It is just presenting cutting issues with reel to reel cutters.
It has just been quite frustrating.

We are in the exact same boat here. As an analogy, I told the tech yesterday, I am on bridge, stuck in the middle, do I turn back, try to cross to the other side? or just jump off.
We are experiencing the exact same issues with our new S2T140. One issue that has come up cutting Substance X1 and...
Well. The results are in after a test run at the Airmark facility in Seattle.
On their Summa S2T160, the "45 degree dual wedge" knife cut through easily both my 3mil/10mil(substance lam) for a 13 mil total.
We also loaded up the very thick stuff: 6mil Substance vinyl and 15mil Substance Laminate...
Well, that is not reassuring by any means.
Flatbed only option? Which is out of price point at present.
But I have an option on a used on after my trial at Airmark today.
We'll see how it goes, but by what you say, it won't go well.
As above, We’re gonna try the 45 double wedge blade. Head guy says it will cut. Going tomorrow morning to a test cut session. They’ll probably try some other blade configs also. I will suggest the 60 referenced above also. I’ll report back with results.
I thought about the 2 pass try, but the plotter is supposed to cut in one. So we are trying the 45 degree double wedge blade and see where we end it.
I am sure a double cut would work, but that is a bandaid and not fixing the actual cut issue.
I am actually heading to Airmark tomorrow for a...
Yes. We had everything to max. Slow down to slowest cut setting, max pressures, blade changed, did everything, even the tech was frustrated as I was. I officially pulled out my hair, which I have none of now.
The Summa is supposed to cut up to 40+ mil thick stuff. But the Substance material is super dense and pretty dang durable. The reason we use it for offroad stuff. I know the flatbed is probably the answer, but at this point it is not quite in our price range. Even for a smaller Summa. I am...
Spent hour with the tech, trying to dial in the cut. Summa just wont cut through my thick vinyl/laminate combo. I use Substance vinyl which is the goto vinyl for offroad type vehicles.
I utilize Substance X1 6mil vinyl and either Substance 10mil or 15 mil vinyl. Again, we were testing out the...
We just purchased a Summa St2140. We are trying to cut the 3-6mil vinyl with 10 mil laminate and eventually 6mil/15mil combo for 21mil thick cut for offroad stuff.
We tried multiple test runs and can't seem to cut through both the laminate and the vinyl.
We can't seem to get the Summa dialed...
Yes, I am still shopping. Those look pretty similar to found of the direct for overseas website.
They did say shipping time from China is 30 to 40 days. So, at least a month.
If the lams from toolots are USA based, I am sure their deliver time is much shorter.
I enjoy shopping for stuff. Just...
From the manufacturer:
Question: Is this DDP shipping?
Answer:
This is DDU shipping, the price does not included the 25% tariff.
Yes, the tariff is the duty tax.
The consignee should pay the duty tax.
If for DDP shipping, we will add 25% duty tax
The price they quoted me was the $1300 listed and $550 for shipping and that also gets it through customs and delivered to your door.
It is quite an interesting proposition from the importer. It still comes in under $2000 complete including delivery. It is quite tempting.
I was looking at a Laminator from Made in China website.
I have good things about some of their products.
Anybody ordered one from them? Pro'. and/or Cons?
Obviously Tech help would be an issue, but laminators are pretty basic, not too complicated.
Anyhow, just wondering. As their prices are...
I had the same problem with my S80 as it lost connection a couple days after install. Called the tech that set it up and he had to go in an do his special tech things to get it back online.
I know that doesn't help, but it happens.
