  1. Black Friday Cricut Special

Just don't forget to buy some extra vinyl. I'm sure that's on special too.
  2. Portable Drill Press?

I have a Craftsman unit for a portable drill. I got it to do some hobby milling for which it worked well enough. If I was to do any more than that, I would look at a cheap benchtop drill press as for most things, they would be more than adequate. I usually buy heavy duty professional grade tools...
  3. why are some files so heavily masked?

I think this goes way back in Illustrator when most of the designers would just cover up stray marks or objects with white instead of deleting them. All that did for the printers was to add more lines and file size. When was the last time you saw a line of copy or shadows welded together instead...
  4. New from Emmen, The Netherlands

Welcome from OHIO. We've been using a Wild TA10BL since 1990. Very nice plotters and built to last.
  5. For the "old timers"....remember these things?

My Dad has been collecting old monkey wrenches for the last several years. He spent his life in maintenance and started out with most of those type of tools. Now he has complete sets from different manufacturers. I figure he has about 3oo pounds of steel wrenches hanging from his "office"...
  6. 4" round cutting dies

There are many suppliers around. Depends on your area. I would suggest a google search for someone near to you. We use Apple Die out of Millwaukee. Just make sure you have a press that can handle the pressure needed to cut through the material and a way to adjust the stroke so you do not crush...
  7. 4" round cutting dies

We would use a steel rule die. It works well if you have enough of a press to stamp it through. We use them on all types of material including aluminum. Just a little more than most shops have at their disposal.
  8. Official: Whiskey Thread

I am reluctant to mention this but I think this is about the longest thread with no angry retorts or name calling. Interesting that it is about liquor and not signs. I guess we all agree on that. All that aside, I favor a good bourbon as much as anyone (except maybe Gino) although unlike him, I...
  9. Hello from Fremont, OH

Welcome to another Ohioan. Seems to be a lot of us these days. You will find a lot of information and help here.
  10. Fellers Ordering

I agree with FatCat and I have the feeling we have the same rep. Always call her directly and very rarely have any problems. The problems have always been corrected quickly and with little problem on my end. Over all, easy to do business with and friendly on the phone.
  11. How long have you been in the Sign Business?

I have been screen printing since 1974. It seems like a lot longer when you put a number to the years. Started as an "instead of" job or until I could find something else. Guess I never found something else. Still find something new or interesting all the time.
  12. Flexi-Sign...who uses it? Poll??

We have been using Flexi since 1994. Before that we used Sign-Tronic for 4 years. Have also used Gerber 3 and 4B's and the next generation with the screen. Gerber was a workhorse if you had the time to input all the lines and such. Sign-Tronic was very precise and very expensive. Flexi was...
  13. Hey-O from Columbus Ohio

Welcome from Ohio! Oh, that's where you're from. Looks like a lot of us are here. Before you know it there will be as many from Ohio as PA. Enjoy the group, they are all good people.
  14. Hello From Streator IL

Welcome and congratulations! I cannot belive you made it a whole day without someone attacking you because you mentioned the cheap Chinese cutters to start a business with. We must be mellowing with age. Spend the money for quality to start with. There are many threads here discussing the merits...
  15. I Am Begging For Help Now Please!!!!!!!!

I have seen the wrong sizes in printing and plotting several times. Have you tried to change the output compensation under setup in print manager? That may only be for the printer though. I am sure many will say the first problem is the Bridge cutter. Possibly you could try a different driver...
  16. Problems with Flexi-Crap 8.1

Sometimes when you ask Flexi to round corners, you will find there are other points too close to the corner and it will not round the radius asked for. Check your points and see where they are. Change the radius and see if it will round them then. Also, as stated already, they must be corner nodes.
  17. beginning to hate flexi

We run Flexi 7.6 for the most part. Primarily for the rip but I use it for design most of the time. We also have Illustrator and Photoshop which are used the same way. Each program has something it does exceptionally well and just as poorly. I still like Flexi but I also really like the 5.8...
  18. How old is your software?

We recieve a lot of files from ad agencies and the like. All of them seem to have the latest versions of software. I suppose it is the cost of doing business but I hate to be forced into upgrades by the customer. Like many of us here, I still run a copy of Flexi 5.8 and love it. We also run...
  19. How old is your software?

I have not seen this question posed on the forum yet but would like to know how many of you just automatically upgrade your software to the latest and greatest as soon as it is released or do you only upgrade when you absolutely have to. How old is the software you are using for the majority of...
  20. Forgot to stop here and say hi ...

Welcome to the group. I was quite familiar with Poe ditch years ago. Spent a lot of time in the area. Last time I was there so much had changed I hardly recognized it.
