  1. Setting up a print and cut job in Onyx and Illustrator

Apologies, I am new to Onyx so I might sound a complete tool right now. When I do a print and cut job, in the past I have used Illustrator to design it, duplicated my object layer and created a cut path then added a bleed to my original layer. Finally I would send it to Versaworks to print and...
  2. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

I'll try both Winplot and GoSign and see how it goes. Once i have that done I'll move onto print and cut. Thanks evryone. I've come from Roland Versaworks and an all in one print / Cutter and a Graphtec FC8600 so everything is new to me at the momet.
  3. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

At the moment just a simple singe colour cut would do fine. I'll install Winplot tomorrow and see how it runs. I believe Winplot is Windows, is there nothing for the Mac then? It's not the end of the world if not but it would make it simpler.
  4. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

    Thanks I'll start with that
  5. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

Hi I've just sold my Graphtec FC8600 and got a Summa S2 T Series but on first impressions, I hate it! I just can't seem to work out how to use it. With the Graphtec I used the cutting master plugin with Illustrator and it just worked. Summa seem to have a million downloads, winplot, macsign...
  6. Summa S2 120 t series

Thanks As soon as I see it I thought this is not right but had bought it blind. I bought it based on the item listed as a d120 with Lan, I believe the lan port was introduced quite late on so I thought it was a good one to go for and turns out I was right. Now to learn how to use it compared...
  7. Summa S2 120 t series

Hi I just purchased an S2 120 t series, . I actually went to collect a d120 but when I arrived it was a S2 120 t series. It's a 2013 model and being a Graphtec man, I don't know much about the summa brand but have the models changed over the last few years? I actually need a 1600mm model but...
  8. Setting til (total ink limit)

Sorry for the late reply, had a busy couple of weeks. I'm back on the profile trail but one thing I am unsure of is, once you've made the profile, how do you set your media to use it? If you edit your Quick-Set setting, under colour management, what do you use? I currently have mine set to...
  9. Setting til (total ink limit)

Tell me if I am wrong but to set the total ink limit, I need to evaluate the print to check for bleed, contamination and how wet it is while looking along the lines where the is no visible or very little change. Is this right? I'm trying to establish the TIL in Onyx. See attached image.
  10. ICC Profiling in Onyx tips

SignMeUpGraphics You mentioned 80% is the sweet spot, do you change that under Basic Print Mode Settings > Define the printer specific settings for this print mode > Mode Options > Ink Density Factor Then lock all values together and pick 80%? I can't see anywhere else you can change it so I...
  11. Step by step guide - Onyx New media and Profiles

Does anyone have an S60600 profile they have created personally that they wouldn't mind sharing. I'd just like to compare against something that I have done on a gloss vinyl. I do have i1Profiler but never used it to compare profiles.
  12. Step by step guide - Onyx New media and Profiles

Pauly Could I also ask if you could post one of your profiles up for a gloss vinyl media so I can compare mine to yours? Are you using an Epson S60600 or S80600? I know the S80600 will have a wider gamut
  13. Step by step guide - Onyx New media and Profiles

Pauly Thank you. Wow that's expensive just to check a profile. Gamutvision is free but and I does work with Version 4 profiles but not the one from Onyx which seems strange so I can't see how big the gamut is. Do you know anything about the differences between Production House 12.2 vs...
  14. Step by step guide - Onyx New media and Profiles

Thank you. I appreciate it's only for the Epson printers but hopefully it will give some insight into how it's done. I've continued with the profiling and completed my first profile yesterday so I will add this to the write up. I also want to try a few other methods such as the epson workflow...
  15. ICC Profiling in Onyx tips

You most likely did. I wasn't sure where to post and you were helpful on Facebook so thanks. I've got a bit further along today and I've created a thread with a full guide
  16. Step by step guide - Onyx New media and Profiles

Hi all After reading many posts and looking at many videos, I can’t get my head around making a new media and profile in Onyx, so I thought I would start a new thread so that any newbies like myself have a step by step guide to follow. To do this I need everyones help first and I’ll keep...
  17. Shaking ink cartridges

Good point. I'm not a huge user so I'll shake them on a monthly basis then.
  18. Shaking ink cartridges

Hi all Having just got my new printer and going through the user manual, it states that you should shake the cartridges on a monthly basis and the white, metallic and orange on a daily basis. I've heard about shaking the white ink before on my old Roland but I have never been told to shake the...
  19. ICC Profiling in Onyx tips

Thank you. I'm in the middle of it now and going to write a full step by step guide so anyone can follow. So far, I am doing the following * in the media manger (in onyx) * Created media groups * Vinyl * Banner * Backlit * Static Film * Canvas * Photo * Poster...
  20. ICC Profiling in Onyx tips

I am just about to create a custom profile for my s60600. I'm creating it for gloss adhesive vinyl. So far I have created a new media in the Epson printer menu, selected adhesive vinyl, I then ran the media adjustment although not sure what that actually does (just seems to print lines but...
