  1. Need Help New to sign making and need lots of advice!

Hey - it's free enterprise and the guy can run his company the way he sees fit. Being so focused on price not my idea of smart business but then he is in a commodity business so saving a few cents here and there might be critical. I never thought people would buy eyeglasses online to save a...
  2. Suggestions Anyone here wrapped a bike...as in bicycle?

I've been a lifelong cyclist and for a while now have entertained the idea of wrapping an older road bike. Like the plumber's sink, it hasn't happened, but would like to check off the list. Figure if people are looking at the bike, they might not notice the slightly overweight 65 year-old...
  3. I believe in providing levity to my coworkers

Tell purchasing that green tape and not wasting 40 lbs. of sand are important to your sustainability program. They will cower in fear of being politically incorrect. That would be a good time to demand the rainbow post-its.
  4. Can all RIPs "combine" jobs into one larger job?

It's called 'nesting; in Flexi Production manager (the RIP in the FlexiSign suite). You can manually nest or the app will automatically nest everything. Basically highlight all the jobs with same print profile and click nest. Can set no. of copies for each before or after nested.
  5. Business Management - videos about your talented team

Just trying to help here. You're right, you are digressing, which takes away from the effectiveness of your post. I thought generating transparency up front and getting away from the controversy your other posts have created might be a good step forward. Now if people start zeroing in on...
  6. Business Management - videos about your talented team

Okay Robert, I'm going to take the bait and weigh in. You actually are bringing up more interesting topics, and this one is presented in a slightly more understandable fashion, but perhaps you should consider presenting in a more direct and succinct manner, such as: ' As you know, I'm trying...
  7. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Good reps build relationships between organizations, based on mutually beneficial results. Days of slap-on-the-back personal relationships are rare to nearing extinction. If a rep moves on and takes the customer with him/her, its probably because the customer perceives something has changed...
  8. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

You make some good points Andy, but I respectfully disagree on your definition of a good sales person . Probably because I've spent most of my work life in sales and sales management (in the graphics industry). And maybe you have not been exposed to a good salesperson which is understandable...
  9. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Did anyone else get a PM like I did: 'Why do you hate me?' Bizarre.
  10. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Too bad - there is probably a use for someone with a successful track record in the sign business that can be a resource for business skills that are industry specific. Not to be critical, but that''s rare to non-existent on this site. A real turn-off to this jaded crowd if presented as...
  11. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Partially true. Wouldn't paint everyone with that same brush. Definitely a portion of my clients that are strictly transactional and they tend to be the younger ones or non-business owners. Actually, the more technical and those interested in the nuts and bolts of signmaking would do...
  12. GRAYS COMING OUT PURPLISH - HP LATEX & FLEXI

Then you either have a bad printhead (its a frustrating process, but HP will replace them) or one of the other issues noted.
  13. GRAYS COMING OUT PURPLISH - HP LATEX & FLEXI

Seems moral of this story though repeated many times on this forum needs further repetition. Understandable since it is a top-selling line with new users regularly encountering similar problems. By design, it uses DISPOSABLE HEADS. They need to be replaced at first sign of failure, in our case...
  14. Newbie here

    Welcome!
  15. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Gino is on the right track on this. A key rule of reflective questioning is 'be natural'. The OP posed the question “I’m curious. I wonder, what might have prompted you to have this sign built?” I'm Interpreting that as Robert feels there needs to be productive dialogue to understand what...
  16. Best Intermediate Printable Vinyl?

40C for any short/mid term vehicle partial without rivet or compound curves. In fact 40c good for so many things - wall, floor etc also, print/cut. Hope 3M doesn't screw it up like they did 35c. Personally, only use cast for full wrap.
  17. Best Intermediate Printable Vinyl?

We used 35c for about 8 yrs running as our go to base for short-medium graphics. About 18 mos ago they started shipping product labeled 'Brazil'. We just noticed different white point, different adhesive look and some print issues and then realized it was made in Brazil. So moved to Briteline...
  18. Business Management - 6/16/2020 - open discussion

    Scary (I have three screens)
  19. Disagree Icon

Useless factoid; In the gladiator fights of ancient Rome. the thumbs-down and thumbs-up actually meant the opposite of how we use them.
